Mary Stanton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 18, 2026.
Mary T. Stanton of Tuckahoe, NY, passed away on February 17, 2026.

Born in Manhattan on January 31, 1932, she was the daughter of Julia and Michael O'Malley. Mary's life was rooted in faith, family, and an unwavering kindness that touched all who knew her. She graduated with honors from Cathedral High School, where she began building the foundation of a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep sense of purpose.

On May 15, 1954, she married the love of her life, Walter M. Stanton, Sr. They shared 61 years together before his passing in 2015.

Together, Mary and Walter raised their four children in the Parkchester section of the Bronx, where they developed many long-lasting friendships. They moved to Scarsdale, NY in 1977 and retired to Tuckahoe in 1992, with each new home becoming a gathering place where Mary's warmth made everyone feel welcome.

Mary was an active Parishioner of St. Raymond's (Bronx, NY), Immaculate Heart of Mary (Scarsdale), Immaculate Conception (Tuckahoe), and St. Joseph's (Bronxville). Her strong faith and sense of service followed her along her journey and played a role in her becoming a Den Mother with the BSA, a Brownie leader with the Girl Scouts, a member of the Rosary Society, and always an active member of the PTA.

Beyond her family, professionally Mary built a career in the Personnel Services Industry, working for Aubrey-Thomas, Inc. as an Executive Assistant until her retirement. Mary is survived by her daughters, Theresa Rodesky-McCarthy (William), Christine Brogan Foreman (Dave), her grandchildren, Elizabeth Rodesky (Jeff Draper), Kate Rodesky, Megan Brogan, Carrie Brogan (Ryan) , daughter in law Ann Stanton and step-grandson Luke McCarthy (Kate) and their children Bridget, Caroline, Edward and Declan McCarthy.

She is reunited with her husband, Walter Sr., her son, Walter Jr., her daughter, Mary Agnes, her sister Sheila Kelly, and sons-in-law Robert Rodesky and Martin Brogan.

Viewing will be on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 4-8 pm at the Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main St., Eastchester, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:45 am on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at St. Joseph's Church, 15 Cedar St., Bronxville, NY.
