Bernice Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (26th St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Mar. 30, 2026.
Bernice Shatto Miller, 96, of Sebring, Florida, formerly of Bradenton, Florida and Dunbar, West Virginia went to heaven March 27, 2026, peacefully at home after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Harold J. Miller, her daughter Deborah Miller-Woosley, her son-in law Dr. Kerry Woosley, and her brother Robert Eugene Shatto. It is of great comfort that they are reunited.

Bernice was the daughter of Carl R. and Virginia Dawes Shatto of Ripley West Virginia where she grew up and was first employed selling tickets at the Alpine theatre. She was a devoted Baptist and served her Lord and her church in many roles through the years.

She retired from Verizon/C & P Telephone Co. with 40 years of service.

She graduated from Ripley High School in Ripley, West Virginia where she was Valedictorian of her Class.

She was a lover of animals as well as people and is terribly missed by her dogs Joe and Emma. She improved every life she touched, was eternally optimistic, and was loving and kind to everyone she ever met.

The family would like to especially thank the caregivers of Comfort Keepers of Sebring and Vitas Hospice for their devoted care and hard work.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your local no kill animal rescue.

A graveside service will be held for Bernice on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 11:00AM at Oak Hill Cemetery, 90 St. John Street, Lake Placid, FL 33852
