Judith Waymire Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (26th St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Mar. 30, 2026.
Judith Arlene Pheanis Waymire (Judy), 85, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

Born October 25, 1940, in Anderson, Indiana, to Wayne and Dora (McAllister) Pheanis, Judy grew up in Anderson, attended Daleville, Markleville, and Middletown schools, and graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1957. A gifted singer and pianist, she was the first to sing the Madison Heights school song and, years later, the last to sing it when the school closed. She worked as secretary to the principal at College Corner and Madison Heights.

Judy met her husband of 64 years, Skip, at a TV station in Muncie, Indiana, where they later sang together in a band on television and radio. They were married on August 4, 1961, at Bethany Christian Church. Though she won an Indiana state singing competition that led to a contract opportunity in New York City, she chose love and family over a stage career.

Judy loved the Lord deeply and used her God-given musical talents to bring joy to others. She was a devoted member and three-term president of the Elkettes and had a servant heart of gold. She loved everything family and was always her children's biggest fan, cheering them on through 4-H, sports, cheerleading, and Soap Box Derby events.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Skip Waymire; daughter, Debi (Eric) Reynolds of Bradenton, Florida; son, Phil Waymire (Jackie Brown) of Monticello, Indiana; grandchildren Megan (Ricky) Kononchuk, Matthew (Shawna) Earley, Allegra (Jonah) Gray, Brady Waymire, and Maci Waymire; bonus granddaughters Trish (Ashleigh) Smith and Susie (Ryan) Brennan; great-grandchildren Easton, Karter, Beckham, McKenna, Alexis, Hudson, Jacob, Miller, Molly, and Timmy; sister Vickie (Will) Hart; sister-in-law Frances Waymire; nieces and nephews Sherry Simmons, Mike Waymire, Randy Hart, Jennifer Brown, Eddy Waymire, and Beth VanSickle; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Anthony Joseph "AJ" Waymire; her in-laws, Gerald and Marie Waymire; Jim and Barbara Waymire; and Ted Waymire.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the hospice nurses, social workers, and staff for their compassion and care. Special thanks are also given to Michelle and Melisa for their daily loving care and for the many ways they loved and supported the family during this difficult journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held April 18, 2026, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Bradenton Elks Lodge 1511, 2511 75th Street West, Bradenton, FL. 34209.

Memorial contributions may be made in Judy's name to Shriners Children's, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607, or online at shrinerschildrens.org, where gifts may be designated in her memory.
