Charlotte Bradish Obituary

Charlotte H. Bradish, 94, of the Bradford Ecumenical Home, formerly of Interstate Parkway, passed away Wednesday (Aug. 24, 2022).
Born Sept. 17, 1927, in Bradford, she was the daughter of John and Florence Nelson Hughey.
Charlotte attended South Bradford and Custer City Schools and graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1945. She then attended Chown Business School in Buffalo, N.Y., graduating in 1946.
On June 28, 1947, in Bradford, she married Joseph J. Bradish Jr., who preceded her in death on March 17, 1964.
Charlotte was employed by Smith Newton Oil Company from 1946 thru 1960; First United Methodist Church as church secretary and Office Manager from 1960 thru 1969, and Northwest Savings Bank from 1969 until retiring in 1995. Her positions at Northwest included Bookkeeper, Secretary to President Max Dunham, Assistant Secretary, and Customer Service Representative.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 83 years; a Life member of the Lambda Chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority where she held the positions of secretary, treasurer, vice president and president. She also served as the assistant national treasurer of Phi Beta Psi Sorority.
Charlotte volunteered at the American Cancer Society, was involved with the Ball and Chain Organization, Current Events Club, and the Methodist Church Wimodausis Society.
After she retired, Charlotte enjoyed traveling the world with her cousin Geraldine "Gerry" Yount. She visited Hong Kong, China, Singapore, England, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slavonia, Greece, Greek Isles, Egypt, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Columbia, Panama, and the Cayman Islands.
Charlotte loved animals and had many pets during her lifetime. She was an avid gardener and cook, passing many Swedish family recipes to her son and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her holiday traditions, hosting Saturday evening cocktail hours, and her fabulous strawberry birthday cake that made an appearance multiple times each year.
She is survived by one son, Jay Bradish and his wife, Delora Burrow-Bradish of Bradford, and three grandchildren: Jonathan Bradish, Jennifer Bradish, both of Bradford, and Dr. Nathaniel M. Burrow of Wilmington, Del., her extended family, Carol Bradish and Debbie Taylor, both of Bradford.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and longtime friend, Jack Hermes, who died April 13, 2010.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Avenue, where private funeral services will be held on Monday with Rev. W. LeRoy Beckes, retired Presbyterian pastor, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
