Frank Ruter Obituary
Born on Oct. 1, 1924, in Bitula, he was the son of Frank E. Ruter Sr. and Viva M. Stiles Ruter. On Jan. 9, 1943, in Coudersport, he married Dee Gleason, who survives.
Mr. Ruter was a long-time resident of the Coudersport area and was well known as a master farmer. He also had a game preserve. He owned and operated the first Polaris snowmobile dealership in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Ruter was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, was a charter member of the Potter County Snowmobile Club and, along with his wife, Dee, had been a board member of the Penn State Cooperative Extension. He was an avid bowler, hunter and snowmobiler.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Dee, are five children, Connie (Dan) Wetzel of Coudersport, Sherri (Ernie) Krensel of Valley Forge, Darlene (Eddie) Gilbert of Ivyland, Stacy (Karen) Ruter of Coudersport and Julie (Kevin) Kosa of Ulysses; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward (Madeline) Ruter of Addison, N.Y.; three sisters, Eva Robinson and Betty Spong, both of Coudersport, and Jane Kniffen of Corning, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Leona Ruter of Coudersport; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Chester L. "Chet" Ruter.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Coudersport Alliance Church with pastor Sam Crossley officiating. Burial will be in Sweden Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Fickinger Funeral Home of Coudersport.
