H. Coast Obituary

H. Joyce Coast, 85, of 781 Main St., Duke Center, passed away Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2023) at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born on March 11, 1938, in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Dorsey R. Smith and Helen E. Edmonds Brenan. She was a 1957 graduate of Otto High School.
On July 13, 1957, in Duke Center, she married James L. Coast who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1986.
Joyce, along with her husband, owned and operated Jim Coast Sales and Service in Duke Center for many years. After the death of her husband, she continued to run the business until her son Dan became owner.
She attended the Duke Center United Methodist Church, was a member of the Red Hats and the Duke Center Ladies Card Club. She enjoyed bowling, attending the Bradford Creative and Performing Art productions, and going to dinner at the Beef-n-Barrel with her lady friends.
Surviving is one daughter, Laura (Bob) Bowen of Gainesville, Fla.; three sons, Jeffrey (Valorie) Coast of Bradford, James "Dan" (Michele) Coast of Duke Center, and Michael (Denise) Coast of Allegany, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Mathew (Aubrey) Coast, Seth (Alicia) Coast, Taylor (Connor) Clayton, Allison (Joshua) Barnish, Courtney (Franky) Falla, and Kali (Tyler) Silvis; 10 great-grandchildren, Tanner Coast, Kendall Coast, Blakely Clayton, Caydence Clayton, Mackinley Clayton, Brooks Barnish, Brynlee Silvis, Emery Silvis, Avery Silvis, and Christopher Falla; two sisters, Beverly J. Galbreath of Sanford, Fla., and Sherry J. (Walt) Rees of Lititz; one brother, Robert D. Smith of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Avenue, where at 4 p.m. funeral services will be held with Pastor Homer Williams of the Sawyer Evangelical Church, officiating. Burial will be in Duke Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to CARE for Children, Otto Township Volunteer Fire Department, or the American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
