COUDERSPORT - Jacob "Jack" Frombach Sr., 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday (Jan. 16, 2016) surrounded by his family at Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport.
On Aug. 7, 1940, in Telford, John Frombach and Josephine Schmal welcomed twin boys Joseph and Jacob. After school, Jack began working at the family business known as Frankford Old Home Bakery in Philadelphia. In 1965, while working at his brother's restaurant, he met and fell in love with Naomi Ruth Minor. Jack married Naomi on April 27, 1968, in Coudersport. Jack worked at Elliot's Bakery in Port Allegany and the Market Basket in Coudersport. He is well known for owning his own business in Coudersport, Jack's Pizza and Bakery, for more than 12 years.
Jack loved his family and baking. He also loved spending time outdoors where he would camp year-round and would bake pies from scratch for whoever went with him. He loved riding his bike and rode close to 10,000 miles within a 10-year period. He also enjoyed fishing and cross-country skiing. Jack was well known for his strong faith in God and never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel with those he met.
Jack is survived by his wife, Naomi; two daughters, Rachel (Chad) Cowburn and Mary Esther (Jason) Holmberg, who all reside in Coudersport; and one son, Jacob Frombach Jr. of Coudersport. Jack is also survived by four brothers, John, Richard, James and Gerald; and one sister, Mary Kit, who all reside in the Philadelphia area. Jack has five grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Evan and Joshua Cowburn and Jacob, Isabella and Jesse Holmberg. He spent hours with them fishing, baking and bike riding. It was such a beautiful day on Christmas, the grandkids brought their new scooter, hoverboard and bike to play outside at "Pop's house. Pop rode right beside them in his scooter chair."
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Stephen, Ronald and Jack's twin brother Joseph; and one sister, Anna McKeown.
Jack's Life Celebration will be held at the Gospel Tabernacle, 420 U.S. Route 6, Coudersport, with the Rev. Dr. David Minor Sr. and the Rev. John Minor officiating. There will be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m., with a service to follow at 2 p.m.
