James Gulnac Obituary

VALATIE, N.Y. - Brother James Clair Gulnac, CSC, 80, a member of the Moreau Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross, passed away on Wednesday (April 27, 2016) at St. Joseph Center, Valatie, N.Y., after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 19, 1935, in Kane, Pa., he was the son of Cornelia R. Hoop Gulnac and Arnold Walter Gulnac.
He attended St. Bernard School and Bradford Area High School, graduating in 1955. Upon graduation, he entered Brothers of Holy Cross and made his first profession of vows as a religious brother in 1957. He obtained his undergraduate degree in secondary education from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, and his graduate degree in counseling and guidance from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn.
He provided valuable service to Holy Cross schools throughout the United States as well as at Fort Portal and Butiiti, Uganda and in Rome, Italy.
A lifelong aficionado of motorcycles, he enjoyed motoring through the country back roads, stopping to meet new friends along the way.
He is survived by his sisters, Joan Mongillo and Maryellen Troutman, both of Bradford, Pa.; Meredith (Don) Maley of Ontario, N.Y., Theresa Shull of Harrisonburg, Va., Lea (Steve) Shaw of McCormick, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Beverly Shrimplin.
Services f will be held at the chapel of St. Joseph Center, Valatie, N.Y. The memorial service will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Was just looking through the Bradford obits and came across Jim's name. I was in the class of '54 and I think Jim was a year ahead of me , Also, remember Joan who was a couple years ahead of me.. Please be assured of my prayers for both Jim and his family.
