Rebecca Billings Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" Ann Billings, 66, of Pleasant Street, Bradford, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 9, 2021) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 20, 1954, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Nancy Anderson Billings.
Becky was a 1972 graduate of Bradford High School. She received a bachelor's in elementary education from Slippery Rock University in 1976. She received a master's from Clarion University in library science after diligently traversing the wicked roads during all kinds of weather back and forth to Clarion.
Becky worked as a librarian in many local schools. She also worked in the library at the Federal Correctional Institute at McKean. She retired as a librarian from the Olean School District.
In her senior year of high school, Becky was a member of the first Bradford girls' basketball team to win a district championship and be undefeated. Becky was a referee for high school basketball at a time when there were not many women doing that work. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed nothing more than a day on the beach reading a good book and collecting shells. She was very much a naturalist. She was always up for a drive or vacation to view wildlife. This included travel to Africa on a safari in Kenya. Spending time at her summer camp in Kane with her dog Riley was something she looked forward to all year long.
She was a member of the Bradford Naturalist Club for many years. Becky truly enjoyed water aerobics at the YMCA, where she made many friends. Lunches with these friends following the workouts were as big a treat as the class. Becky was a great lover of the arts. She was a season ticket holder to Shea's Performing Arts and BCPAC for over 40 years. Becky was proud of her Swedish heritage collecting jultomten and other Swedish artifacts.
Becky is survived by longtime friend, Margie Holland, four siblings: Dina (George) Stepanenko of Naples, Fla., Matthew (Barb) Billings of Shippensburg, Greta (Carma Horner) Billings of Bradford, Nathan (Marybeth) Billings of Bliss, N.Y.; one niece, Amanda (Tony Ventiquattro) Hopkins of Fort Myers, Fla.; one nephew, Scott Muncer of Vancouver, Wash., and one grandniece, Alina Ventiquattro of Fort Myers, Fla.
Becky was an organ donor. This was important to her to become a donor because her grandmother benefitted from organ donation.
A memorial service will be held later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
Memorials if desired, may be made to the Bradford SCPA, Bradford Area Library, St. Jude's Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.

Hi. I didn't know Rebecca, but I was a student of her dad's, Chet Billings, and just left a note on his legacy.com page and when I closed that page saw on the search page that Rebecca had just passed. Unusual to have thought of Mr. Billings today -- was out of the blue, then see his daughter just passed. Maybe he's letting his presence be known. Rest in peace, Rebecca. God bless you and your loved ones.
