Robert McCann Obituary

Robert E. McCann, 74, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, of 31 Lang Maid Lane, Bradford, passed away Tuesday (Sept. 29, 2015) surrounded by his loving family at the Bradford Manor.
Born Dec. 29, 1940, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Basil and Florence Rucinski McCann. On Aug. 3, 1963, in St. Joseph Church in Mount Jewett, he married Maxine Lerch McCann.
He was a 1959 graduate of St. Bernard High School.
Mr. McCann was a member of St. Bernard Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He taught underwriting courses in Olean, N.Y., was a past board member for the American Cancer Society and volunteered for the Relay for Life. He was a member of the Rambler Association, Custer City Mens Club, and was an avid golfer. He was currently serving on the zoning board at Bradford Township.
He was employed at Kendall Refinery, later as a sales manager at Metropolitan Life, Sundahl Insurance, Bradford Electronics, and prior to his retirement at Smethport Specialty.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Maxine of 52 years, are two daughters, Stacie A. (Rich) Riddle of Acworth, Ga., and Susan A. (John) McCann-Piganelli of Bradford; two sons, Robert M. (Tina) McCann and Scott A. (Michele) McCann, all of Bradford; one sister, Kathleen "Sis" (Jack) Gilbert of Duke Center; eight grandchildren, Patrick, William and Kaitlin McCann, Wyatt McCann, Joshua and Sarah Riddle, Evan and Andrew Piganelli; one great-grandaughter, Peyton McCann; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kristin Anne McCann, who died Nov. 21, 1985; and one brother, Richard McCann.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main St., where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Bernard Elementary School; Evergreen Elm; CARE for Children; or a charity of the donor's choice.

I remember Bob from St. Bernard's and his relationship with my brother Pat. Being just a little younger, what I remember most was how very kind he was to everyone. How nice to remember him.

My condolences to the family and friends of Bob. I did not know him well but he lived across the street from my mother. He would take the time to bring her newspaper to her each morning. That meant a lot to her and to me. May peace be with your family.
