Robert Ruffner

1941 - 2022

Robert R. Ruffner, Sr., 80, of Emerald Isle, Smethport, passed away Thursday, (March 3, 2022) at UPMC Cole, with his loving family by his side.
Born July 16, 1941, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Merle and Dorothy W. (Johnson) Ruffner. He attended Bradford schools.
On Oct. 8, 1959 he enlisted in the United States Marines. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 7, 1963.
On Feb. 13, 1960, in St. Bernard Church, he married Josephine E. (Rich) Ruffner who preceded him in death on April 5, 2012.
He worked for Main Corp, Northeastern Container, Haliburton, Miles Bradford, R.C. Can and he retired from Miles Bradford.
Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 138 of Smethport and he enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy "Dar" A. (John) Kight, and Stephanie L. Ruffner, all of Smethport; one son, Robert R. (Linda) Ruffner Jr., of Crosby; nine grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Ruffner, of Aiken, and Merle "Bud" Ruffner, of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one daughter, Christina Marie Ruffner-Mackey; two sisters, Beverly Good and Bonnie Mascioni; and one brother, Richard Ruffner.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Avenue. Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, Pastor as celebrant. Followed by Military Honors by members of the United States Marine Corp and the Honor Guard from the American Legion Post 138 of Smethport, in St. Bernard Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
