Ronald Harlan Obituary

KANE - Ronald B. Harlan, 78, of 11 Lucky Lane, died Thursday morning (Sept. 12, 2013) at his residence.
Born June 28, 1935, in Bradford, he was the son of Roy S. and Agnes M. Kruise Harlan. On Aug. 27, 1955, in Olean, N.Y., he married Jane L. Groves, who survives.
He worked in welding and maintenance for various companies in the area, including CeraMag in Kane and IPSCO near Sheffield. Earlier, he was a woodcutter for area logging businesses.
Ron was a member of the East Kane United Methodist Church, where he was a lay speaker and a soloist. He was Wetmore Township Supervisor for more than 10 years and enjoyed photography, driving his John Deere tractor and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Norma (Bob) Geer of St. Marys and Tammy (Scott) Mix of Kane; a son, Ken (Sue) Harlan of Ludlow; a sister, Sandra (Ron) Dulyea of Kane; a brother, Darrell (Alice) Harlan of Pittsfield; a half-brother, William Smith of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Sara Resh, Adam Geer, Bryan and Karen Harlan, and Matt and Amanda Mix; a great-grandson, Tracen Resh; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceding in death by a son, Donald Harlan; a brother, Leroy Harlan; a sister, Mary Sikkema; and half-sister, Helen Senese.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. in Kane on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, at which time a service will be held at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Aul, pastor of the East Kane United Methodist Church, and the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mount Jewett-Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, co-officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery following cremation.
