Thomas Hammond Obituary
Born March 13, 1966, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Frederick O. and Dorothy I. Trimm Hammond.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1985.
Thomas was a machine operator with American Axle Corp. of Ridgway.
He was a former member of the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany.
Thomas was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed darts, shooting pool and being the life of the party.
He was an avid Cowboys, Sabres and Cubs fan for many years.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas A. Jones of New Brighton, Jamisen R.L. (Rachael) Jones of New Kensington and Drew A. Hammond of Coudersport; two daughters, Rylea E. Hammond and Cloe I. Hammond, both of Coudersport; five brothers, Bernard L.R. (Dawn) Hammond of Rixford, Michael J. Hammond of Coudersport, Richard T. (Sharlene Eaton) Hammond of Greensburg, Dean M. (Amy) Hammond of Troupsburg, N.Y., and Terry (Brenda) Williams of Keating Summit; four sisters, Sally A. VanGorder and Susan I. (Mark) Herbert, both of Port Allegany, and Nancy M. (Gary) Hagg and Laura L. (Mark VanGorder) Elliott, both of Smethport; longtime companion, Robin T. Nortum of Gifford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Eugene VanGorder, Wade Elliott and James Stiles; and brother in Christ, Duane Miller Sr.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 29, 2024) and 9 a.m. to noon Friday (March 1, 2024) at East Smethport United Christian Church, where a funeral service will immediately follow with the Rev. Allen Young, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to East Smethport Christian Church.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
