Edward Pickering Obituary

LUNENBURG, Mass. -- Edward Bartlett Pickering, 49, of 225 Northfield Road, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston after a long and courageous fight with artery disease.

He was born in Clinton on Nov. 14, 1957, the son of Earl and Avis W. (Dickinson) Pickering.

He attended Lunenburg schools and was a 1976 graduate of Monty Tech in Fitchburg.

He was a long time member of the National Ski Patrol, an OEC instructor, and American Red Cross first aid instructor.

He served in the Army Corps of Engineers for eight years. He loved working outdoors and worked in the summer for Signature Landscaping of Ashburnham and in the winter he was mountain manager at Ski Ward in Shrewsbury, Mass.

He is survived by his parents, Earl and Avis Pickering, of Stratton, Vt.; his brother, James Marsh Pickering of Dover, Ark.; his twin sister, Amy Kyle Pickering Howell, of Stratton; three nieces and a nephew, Kristine Kyle Howell, of Concord N.H., Jessica Whitney Howell of Stratton, Kathryn R. Gentes and Joshua E. Gentes of Meredith, N.H.; and uncle Porter S. Dickinson and his wife Sally of Fitchburg.

By his request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The International Dyslexia Foundation, Attn.: Development Office, Chester Building, Suite 382, 8600 LaSalle Road, Baltimore, MD 21286-2044.

Arrangements are under the care of AUBUCHON-MOORCROFT FUNERAL HOME of Fitchburg.
