Well almost a year has passed and I still miss him just as much and cry just as hard. Nothing has changed I am still grieving for him and I still say it isn't fair and I want him back. I still have a hole in my life big enough to drive a truck through. I don't know if I will ever heal from this pain.

It has taken me awhile to put something on here. Not because I did not want to, but because I was always unsure what to say. When Bill and I first met it was a simple me walking up to him in his truck, sticking my hand out and saying " Hi, I'm Jon. I'm the one dating your daughter." I'm still not sure what his real reaction was to that but his look was that of " what the ..." Well you can use your imagination. I had alot of respect for this man. He and I both had the army in common. Of course he would always raze me on the "New Army" compared to the "Old" but thats how we were. I looked up to the man for who he was and what he had done. Dad always told me straight and never pulled the punches. It is still hard for me to think of him not being with us physically any more. I will always see him in his chair ready to give me static on my "modern army". And me with a crack about how he was the man behind Moses giving instructions on how to part the Red Sea. That is just how we were. Thanx for all that you tried to teach and instill in me Dad. I will never forget it nor you. I will miss you and our talks. Rest In Peace Dad, you've earned it.

To a man I knew as a father, one that would make me laugh and enjoyed life to the fullest. One who never gave that up even in the end. I hope he found the peace he so rightly deserved. I will always remember what he taught me in the short time we had together on earth. My love was unspoken but strong and I hope he knew that. I love you, Dad. (Better late than never. :)

This is in memory of my dad
My dad was a kind and freindly man he was always quick with a smile and a wave of his hand to any one My dad gave all he had for his fellow man and for this country. He volunteered to go to Vietnam two times as he felt he was needed and in his death he still gave the only thing he had left to give to help out his fellow man he donated his body for medical school so future Doctors can become better Doctors. That was kind of man my father was. He gave it all he had right till the very end.

My first memory of Uncle George was when I was six. He teased me by asking me if I was "sick" every time I informed him of my age. He looked so much like my father, Allen, just with lighter hair. I had lost touch with him for many years and am sorry I never was able to see him again. My sincere sympathy to Liz and all my cousins. I would love to hear from any of you.

It still feels like it was just yesterday when I was informed we had lost him. I still cry nightly. I don't know if I will ever get past this. I miss you Daddy and I am so sorry I wasn't there when you needed me most. I love you with all my heart and always will. I am counting the days til I see you again. Til then keep my seat warm for me. And tell all our relatives there with you hello for me.

I will always associate my grandfather with seeing a chicken running around with his head cut off when I was 11 years old. He was a tall and strong man, this is the way I will always remember him.
To my family, I am sorry our lost. Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep in touch.
Love, Katina Bills-Ethridge

George was a friend and fellow veteran whom we met at the VFW. He was a true American and was a great patriot. He was reserved, yet was there if you needed a good ear or kind word. We were saddened to see him pass, yet glad that his pain and suffering had ended. To all of his family our deepest sympathy. He has lived a life that most people only dream of. It was a good life. He was a good man. He will be greatly missed by all.
