Hazel Fletcher Obituary

WALPOLE, N.H. -- Hazel Fletcher died May 28, 2005, at the age of 95, at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, after a period of failing health.

She was born Hazel Grace Smith, on Nov. 10, 1909, the daughter of Alice B. and Verny Smith in Walpole, and lived in Westminster, Vt., as a child.

She was married to Raymond H. Fletcher on Jan. 22, 1929, and moved to a farm in Walpole. She worked as a housewife and mother, raised her own chickens and sold eggs and vegetables throughout the area. She enjoyed farming, raising flowers and spending time at their camp in Stoddard.

She was married to Raymond for 61 years until his death, June 31, 1990. She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Dorothy Fletcher of Walpole; three granddaughters, three foster grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by a foster grandchild, Bonnie Dowley, on Sept. 1, 1999.

There will be a graveside funeral service, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at the Walpole Cemetery in Walpole, with the Rev. Larry Siebrands presiding. There will be no calling hours. FENTON & HENNESSEY FUNERAL HOME in Bellows Falls, Vt., is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Fletcher's memory may be made to the Maplewood Nursing Home, River Road, Westmoreland, NH 03467, for their new bus.u
