Joshua Dee Obituary

Joshua Dee 1949 - 2010 EAST DOVER, VT Joshua Dee died suddenly on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, while doing a sport he enjoyed, road biking. He was 60 years old, born in Beverly, Mass., Oct. 11, 1949, and raised in Salem, Mass. He went to University of New Hampshire and was an art major; after graduation, he taught ceramics at a high school in Great Barrington, Mass. He was married and started his family, then moved to East Dover, where he and his family have resided for 23 years. He had been a ski pro, snowboard pro, and coach at Mount Snow for the last 20 years. He loved to bike ride, the steeper the hills to climb the better. He was a great brew master, known for his homebrew. He was known for being a hard worker and a master craftsman. He built homes, two big barns and was known for his sign carving skills. He and his son (Lachlann Dee) had built a fine business in the valley together. Joshua was an active member of Jehovah Witnesses for 37 years. One of things that Joshua loved was helping in the building projects for new Kingdom Halls throughout the northeast. His enthusiasm for life was contagious (He did everything at 110%). He will be missed greatly by Lucinda Dee and his two sons, Lachlann and Knowlton Dee, his two daughters-in-law, Leah and Renee Dee, his mother, Sally Dee, his two brothers, Dik and Justin Dee, his sister, Rachel Dee, and his many special friends who have known him for years and loved him. MEMORIAL NOTICE: Memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at 2 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 19 Edward Heights, West Brattleboro, VT

Josh may be gone, but not forgotten. I thought of him recently when I saw someone with his rosy red cheeks and outdoor complexion reminding me of how healthy he always looked. May his outdoor spirit live in all of us.

Dear Lucinda and family,
I recently found out that Josh had a fatal bike accident last fall. I am shocked and profoundly saddened by this news. I have been meaning to get in touch with Josh over the winter as I have recently retired and thought I might catch up with him for some skiing. We had many great days of skiing as undergraduates at UNH. I was always in awe of his skiing ability and wanted to ski just like him. He was an amazing skier, a positive force to be around, and was a great friend to have in college. Although we went our separate ways after college, we kept in touch over the years. I last talked to him a year or two ago and we caught up on each other's lives, talking about his family and his mother. I am just so saddened about his death. I offer my deepest sympathies and trust that your memories of him will keep him with you always. Love, Sherrie Greeley, Windsor, VT 4/17/11

I met Joshua this Summer when he came to provide an estimate for a new roof on our house. He arrived on a motorcycle, full of life and good will. I liked him instantly and as we walked the roof together found him to be a person of knowledge, sincerity and honesty. He is a great loss and I extend my heartfelt sympathy to his family.

Joshua you will be missed by many at Mt Snow. I will miss the humor you brought with you to the Mt each time you came in and how we teased each other in the locker room. May you rest in peace my dear friend.

although jon met him only a handful of times and i never had the chance to meet him, its just understood that josh was an amazing person and so full of life! we're in our 20's and he's more active than the two of us together! death is so senseless, especially at such a young age...we're so grateful for the promises we're given in the Bible of a wonderful future with all of our friends and family. our hearts break for joshuas family over this huge loss, but know that you're all in so many people's thoughts and prayers.
-much love
