Maurice King Obituary

Maurice William King (Bob) 88, of Vernon, VT, went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ, on June 13, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a period of declining health. Maurice was born in Enosburg Falls, VT on August 2, 1934, the son of Carl Harrison King and Eva Bushey King. He attended schools in Enosburg Falls, followed by proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1953-1956.

He trained as a master barber and enjoyed this profession for over 40 years. In Brattleboro, on March 29, 1957, he was married to Marilyn Rena Slicer of Brattleboro, and they celebrated 66 wonderful years together. Faith and family were of the utmost importance throughout their married life. He was a member of Tri State Bible Baptist Church, and a devout man of faith, who read his Bible daily. He always had a giving heart - turning his ideas into actual creations for the grandchildren. Singing with his grandchildren brought him much joy. Many memories were made hunting, fishing and camping. He loved the beautiful Northeast Kingdom (Holland, VT) where he and Marilyn built a home, where many happy times were spent with family.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Vernon, VT; daughter Tammy Osborne (Mark) of Vernon, VT; son Mark (Sylvan) of Westmoreland, NH; and eight grandchildren: Melissa Daniel (Kelly) of Grass Lake, MI; Sarah Gardner (Joshua) of Mt Jackson, VA; Benjamin Osborne (Jaque) of Orchard Beach, MD; Katrista Osborne of Vernon, VT; Joshua Osborne (Shelly) of Townshend, VT; Caleb Osborne of Vernon, VT; Susanna Osborne of Vernon, VT; Laura Osborne of Vernon, VT; and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters - Lessie Farnsworth, Janet Garfield, Betty Ennis, Wilma Aplin and brothers, Newton and Fred.

Visiting hours at: Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker Avenue, Northfield, MA on Friday, 6/16/23 from 6 - 8 pm. www.kidderfuneralhome.net; Graveside service at: Oakwood Cemetery in Townshend, VT, Saturday, 6/17/23 at 9 am, followed by Celebration of Life service at Tri State Bible Baptist Church, Route 63, Chesterfield, NH on 6/17/23 at 11 am.
