Philip W. "Buzzy" Rancourt Sr.

BRATTLEBORO -- The liturgy of Christian burial was celebrated Friday morning at St. Michael's Catholic Church for Philip W. “Buzzy” Rancourt Sr. of Momingside Commons, who died Tuesday at his home.

The Rev. Stanley Deresienski and the Rev. Francis McMahon were the celebrants. Music was under the direction of Peggy Goldyn, accompanied by St. Michael's Choir.

Members of the Brattleboro Fire and Police Departments formed an honor guard at the entrance of the church.

The pall was placed on the casket by Mr. Rancourt's children.

Readings were offered by Joan Richardson and Shirley Squires.

The gifts were presented by grandchildren Megan Rancourt, Christopher Rancourt and Annie Rancourt.

Remembrances were shared by former Brattleboro Fire Chief T. Howard Mattison, Annie Rancourt and Megan Rancourt. A poem, written by Nikki Rancourt, was read by Mr. Rancourt's sister; Joan Richardson.

Mr. Rancourt's favorite hymns -- “Ave Maria” and “On Eagles Wings” -- were rendered by Peggy Goldyn and St. Michael's Choir.

Burial was in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery where Rev. Deresienski offered committal prayers.

Serving as bearers were David Emery, John Wheelden, Jarred Houstin, Ron Hubbard, Steve Barrett, Michael Buccossi, Bill Johnson and Tom Burrows.

Honorary bearers were T. Howard Mattison, Ronald Worden, Will Rancourt, Christopher Rancourt, Terry Richardson and Blair Fletcher.

The Brattleboro Lodge of Elks conducted memorial services Thursday evening at the funeral home, as well as services conducted by the Brattleboro Fire Department.

Among the many relatives and friends in attendance were delegations representing the Brattleboro Fire Department, Brattleboro Police Department, Brattleboro town officials, Rescue Inc, Cersosimo Industries, Brattleboro Country Club, American Legion Post 5 and Brattleboro Lodge of Elks 1499.
