Sheila Prouty

1934-2013 BRATTLEBORO, VT Sheila Prouty 79, of Brattleboro passed away Tuesday Nov. 14, 2013. She was born in Brattleboro, VT July 5, 1934 daughter of Guy and Isabel (Gordon) Prouty. She was a lifelong resident of Brattleboro and attended Brattleboro area schools. Sheila spent her life as a homemaker caring for her loving family as well as working for the Green Street School in the lunch program for many years. She was a warm, loving person who could find a friend anywhere she would go. She loved knitting and made countless clothing items including Christening Gowns and sweaters and other items she would sell and donate to the Reformer Christmas Stocking program. Some of her favorite pastimes were Crossword and Jigsaw Puzzles. In her last few years at Pine Heights she made many new friends and was very active in activities including Bingo and Bowling. Sheila is survived by her daughter Jolene and her husband Scott Lane of Vernon; her Twin Sister, Shirley and her husband Harry Hoyt; her grandson Benjamin Lane; Nieces and Nephew, Dawn (Hoyt) and her husband Bruce Steinberg, Deb (Hoyt) and her husband Frank Helin and Mark Hoyt and their extended families. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St. Brattleboro. Private graveside committal services and interment will take place on Monday in the Locust Ridge Cemetery, Brattleboro. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Brattleboro Reformer Christmas Stocking Program. Contributions may be sent to: Reformer Christmas Stocking, P.O. Box 703, Brattleboro, VT 05302-0703. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. My memories are of a special lady with a terrific laugh that I never heard speak a negative word. Rest in peace T!
