Shirley Wright Obituary

Shirley L. Wright, 87, of Chester, VT passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, November 24, 2024, at the Jack Byrne Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Lebanon, NH, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on March 1, 1937, in Richford, VT. She was the daughter of Lorenzo and Irene (LaFountain) Lavoie. Shirley graduated from Richford High School in 1955.

On August 31, 1957, she married Lawrence E. Wright at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chester, VT. Shirley worked for 27 years as an Administrative Secretary at the Holstein Association in Brattleboro, VT and for many years lived and raised her family in Hinsdale, NH.

After retirement, she spent many winters in Naples, Florida and pursued her passion for Country Music by attending Fan Fare in Nashville with her husband. She also enjoyed taking long walks daily until she was 80, watching Jeopardy daily and following the Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves, often taking vacation time during the MLB playoffs to cheer on her teams. She loved attending the activities and sporting events of her children and grandchildren attending as many of their events as she could. Last fall, she found great joy in live streaming her youngest granddaughter Darcy's college soccer games, despite her limited mobility.

Shirley was deeply devoted to her family who meant the world to her. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Wright; her children, Lawrence J. Wright and wife Dianne, Cheryl A. Walcott and husband Gary; one brother, Stephen Lavoie and wife Carolyn; two sisters, Barbara Lavoie and Jane Thompson and husband Tom; six grandchildren; Zachary Wright, Trevor Wright and wife Caleigh, Kelsey (Wright) Guimaraes and husband Felipe, Darcy Wright, Taylor Garboski, Travis Garboski, and her great-granddaughter, Camilla Guimaraes.

Shirley was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Rene, and Peter Lavoie, and sister, Mary Thompson.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery in Chester, VT. Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield is assisting with arrangements.
