Tyler Gilbert Obituary

PUTNEY -- Tyler Reed Gilbert, 23, died early Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born in Brattleboro on May 20, 1981, the son of Marshall Laurie and Paula Reed Gilbert.

He was an active outdoorsman and skilled deer hunter. He truly enjoyed his time in the woods, choosing to spend most of his time hunting, fishing, hiking, snowshoeing and riding his dirt bike. His dedication to the sport of hunting, along with his commitment to “putting in his time in the woods,” netted him several nice bucks.

Being a friend to many, he enjoyed gathering with his friends and spending time with his family. He was happiest making others smile with his clever and unique sense of humor. He captured everyone's hearts and had the most contagious laugh.

Lately, he has been enjoying the company of a very special person, his girlfriend, Courtney White of Bellows Falls.

He is survived by his parents, Marshall Laurie and Paula Reed of Putney; a sister, Casey Gilbert, and her son, Max; another sister, Amanda Gilbert of Saxtons River; a brother, Marshall Gilbert, and his fiancé Becky Springer of Hinsdale, N.H.; an uncle Shannon Gilbert of Citra, Fla.; and several aunts and uncles and many cousins from Pennsylvania.

Services will be held at the United Church of Putney on Thursday at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to a trust at the Chittenden Bank, 25 Village Square, Bellows Falls, VT 05101.

KER-WESTERLUND AND FLEMING FUNERAL HOME of Brattleboro is in charge of arrangements.u

Tyler-Today I am missing you sooo much! My heart is aching and the tears just won't quit. I miss your giggle and the way your pant legs sound when you rush through the house on your way out the door. I miss the way you always hog the couch and remote and I even miss answering the endless weekend night calls from your friends wondering where you are. I love you more than words and miss you every minute of every day. Max say's "I can see Tyler whenever I want to, I just look in my heart". You will be in our hearts forever.

Dear Paula, Laurie, Casey, Max, Marshall, and Amanda,

I am full of sorrow for all of you at this time and words are not enough. Being a tight family, losing a member must be beyond painful. Hopefully, being a tight family will also help you to keep other secure in the knowledge that you can count on each other for love and support 24/7. Your family has always been special to me as representation of what an American family could be. I wish that there were something tangible that my small family could do for you; caring doesn’t seem to be very much, but know that all of us in the Brown, Brown-Tirrell, Burke, Jagoda, and Baker clan up on the hill, would do anything you needed and send a huge amount of love to each of you. Candace

Laurie, Paula, Casey, Amanda and Marshall,

Words are hard to find that convey my saddness and sympathy. When I think of Tyler I see him smiling, I think of deer hanging in the garage, and I remember a lot of good laughs. Someone in the Hundred Acre Woods once said, "Never forget me, because if I thought you would, I'd never leave." Tyler has left us but he will never be forgotten.

With love and sympathy,

Teri

I've known Tyler since he was in about 3rd grade when my son Gregg first moved to Putney. He was a "boy's boy" and a true lover of life, he grabbed all he could of it and enjoyed every minute of it. I will always remember that wonderful smile of his, one that he never seemed to be without. I know he was a true friend to my son and kept in touch with him after he moved to NC. He sent a big hello just last week. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. My heart goes out to Laurie and Paula, Casey,Amanda, and Marshall. You are a truely wonderful family and my prayers are with all of you.
