Alfred Kemmling Obituary

KENSINGTON

Alfred J. Kemmling, 89, of Kensington, Connecticut passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday June 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Regina (Jablonski) Kemmling with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Poland, but raised in Germany to the late Leopold and Irene (Tomaszewicz) Kemmling, Alfred immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 and proudly made Kensington his home. A talented linguist, he spoke English, German, Polish, and Russian. Alfred honorably served his adopted country in the United States Army, where he met his best friend, the late Chester Jablonski. Together they formed a bond that would last a lifetime and eventually lead him to the love of his life, Regina. He later enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at Imperial Tool and later, Eastern Tool & Die, where he was well known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Alfred was a man of deep faith, which guided him throughout his life. He played in the Connecticut State Soccer League for Ogniwo S.C. and the New Britain Falcons. He later played for the New Britain Old Timers where he made lifelong friends. He cherished his role as a father and grandfather, coaching his sons' Little League baseball teams in their youth and cheering on his grandchildren in all of their endeavors. Above all, nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by the people he loved most.

In addition to his beloved wife, Regina, Alfred is survived by his three devoted children: Edward A. Kemmling and his wife, Bridget, of Berlin; Ronald A. Kemmling and his wife, Michelle, also of Berlin; and his daughter, Karen Sena of Plainville. He was a proud grandfather to Kelsey Freire and her husband, Zack; Eric Kemmling; Julia Kemmling and her fianc, Austin Kick; and Justin Kemmling.

Alfred is also survived by his brother-in-law, John Jablonski, and his wife, Gloria, of Old Saybrook, and his sister-in-law, Janina Jablonski, of New Britain. He is further survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews throughout the United States and Poland. Alfred was predeceased by two brothers, Mieczyslaw and Leopold Kemmling, as well as his brothers-in-law, Chester and Mike Jablonski.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, 485 Alling Street, Kensington. Interment with military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs online or by mail to 287 West Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, Attn: T. Marzik, Community Outreach. Please specify the donation category on the check.

Ron, Michelle & Extended Family- We're so sorry for your loss. I will remember Al very fondly. I always enjoyed talking with him at your 4th of July parties & the funny stories that would inevitably be resurrected about you growing up with your friends, Ron. He loved his soccer, & sports in general.
A good man from a generation of good men. Sending prayers - Brian & Miki Fitzsimmons
