David Bourassa Obituary

BRISTOL

David "Dave" John Bourassa, 55, lifelong resident of Bristol and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend departed this life unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1969 in Waterbury and was the son of Andre and Joanne (McKinnon) Bourassa of Bristol. Dave has been the loving husband of Karen (Bedard) Bourassa for 29 years. Karen and Dave met while working at Rickel's in 1988. Their 7 years of dating consisted of many dates at Frankie's, movies, hiking, boating, lots of traveling, and more. They were married June 3, 1995. Shortly after marriage, they started a family and the fun began with many wonderful memories with Emily and Madelyn. Dave was a master electrician for over 35 years. For the last 10 years, he was an integral part of Connecticut Spring and Stamping as a foreman electrician. He was known by his coworkers as always having an infectious smile and bringing a strong work ethic. Dave is and was a role model for his daughters, and the "best big brother ever," as the oldest of 4. Dave was a kind, gentle, and fun-loving person who loved everyone in his life so dearly, including his newest furry best friend, Gracie. Besides his wife, Karen, and parents, Andre and Joanne, Dave is survived by his loving daughters Emily and Madelyn Bourassa of Bristol; his beloved dog Gracie; brother Joseph Bourassa of Newington; sisters Julie Sacharko and her husband Jeff of Bristol, Sarah Starbird and her husband Kevin of Wolcott; mother and father-in-law Joseph and Donna Bedard of Bristol; a special aunt Maureen Lawrence of Bristol; sisters-in-law Kimberly Bernier and her husband Mark of Bristol, Cheryl Strahowski and her husband Bill of Terryville; nieces and nephews Harrison, Gabrielle and her husband J.P., Stephanie, Alex, Cassie, Kole, Brianna and her husband Josh, Gillian, Chadd and his wife Kary, Noah; great-nieces and nephews Amelia, Eliza, Jack, and Bennett; and many other special cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends locally and out of state. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 4 p.m. Until 7 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol. A service will be held privately. My deepest condolences for David and his family. I was a Plumbing apprentice and worked along side him on many jobs long ago. We had a close group back then. Very sad to hear the tragic news!
