Edmund Bernosky Obituary

NAPLES, FL

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our father Edmund Francis Bernosky Sr. who left us peacefully on September 29, 2024, in Naples, Florida. Ed was born in Bristol, CT to Harry and Lottie Bernosky on April 8, 1931. He survived his four siblings Robert, Helen, Walter and David. Ed attended St Stanislaus School and Bristol High School. After high school, Ed worked at Cedarcrest Hospital in Newington, CT where he met Gladys, his wife of 61 years. They raised their family in Bristol before retiring to Florida. Ed is survived by his children Catherine Flores and her spouse Pablo; Edmund Bernosky Jr and his spouse Trish; Michael Bernosky; Karen Czcinski and her spouse William; Donna Goodrow and her spouse Jim; and Mary Gagne and her spouse Bill; 9 granddaughters, Heather, Cory, Shelby, Megan F., Christine, Jennifer, Megan M., Nicole, Amber; and 8 great grandchildren, Maya, Violet, Dominic, Isabelle, Colton, Avery, Teddy and Ellie. In his youth, Ed was active with the Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout and Scout Leader. He had fond memories of hiking and camping in the White Mountains, participating in scouting activities at Camp Cochipianee, and receiving guidance from his father when working on his badges. He owned the House of Pizza on School St., where passers-by watched him make pizzas in the front window. He went on to work as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney, where he was also active in the Machinist Union until he retired. Ed was known for his love of music, dancing and singing. As young parents, he and mom would get all dressed up for local dances, balls, and fund-raising events. Dad was one of the first on the dance floor at weddings, parties and social events at the Elks club. He was an avid fan of Mario Lanza and Frank Sinatra, and a great whistler. When summer came, he packed the car, loaded in the kids, and drove the family to the White Mountains and state beaches for camping trips. He loved vacationing in Florida with mom and retired there in 1988. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and became active in community and neighborhood organizations and events. Dad enjoyed golfing, fishing and boating with his sons and friends. He cared for Gladys in their home before she passed away in 2011. When Hurricane Ian took his home in Naples, Ed came to Bethlehem, New Hampshire to live with a daughter. He still made a great pizza and took daily walks to view Mount Washington and greet his new neighbors. He enjoyed visiting his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was delighted to meet his recently born great-grandchild. We will dearly miss Eds music and the stories, toasts and reflections he shared with us at holiday meals and family events. The family plans a memorial service for a later date.
