Ernest Girouard

Ernest Girouard, 94, of Bristol, widower of Rose Marie (Labrecque) Girouard, passed away peacefully surrounded by his three sons unto the hands of The Lord on Friday (December 5, 2025) at John Dempsey Hospital.

Ernest was born on April 29, 1931, in Thompsonville CT and was a son of the late Alcide and Antoinette (Lambert) Girouard. He was raised in Hartford where he attended local schools. After high school, he worked at Royal Typewriter. He then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist stationed in Tennessee & Long Island, NY. He and Rose Marie married on August 27, 1960, and resided in Newington to start their family before moving to Bristol in 1968 where they raised their family and enjoyed their home. Ernest managed the Log Cabin Package Store in Farmington from 1960-1978. He then worked as an inspector for Gros-ite Industries for 23 years before his retirement. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church, Bristol where he was an usher for many years passing and organizing the collections basket. He enjoyed taking care of his home, working in the yard, tending to his garden, chatting with the neighbors, and reading the daily newspaper.

Ernest is survived by three sons: Ronald Girouard and wife, Kirsten of Bristol, Michael Girouard and wife, Judi-Ann of Bristol, and Gary Girouard of Berlin; six grandchildren: Nicole Girouard, Maximillian Girouard, Julie Bonati and husband, Brian, Stephanie Boyea and husband, Joel, twins Kara Berube and husband, Ryan, and Katie Noble and husband, John; and four great grandchildren: Twins, Nora and Lacy Bonati and Twins, Audrey and Madison Noble. He is also survived by one aunt, several cousins, several nieces/ nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his brother: Arthur G. Gerry Girouard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (January 5, 2026) at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
