Lois Kamens

1933 - 2021

Lois Johnson Kamens passed away peacefully at LiveWell (formerly Alzheimers Resource Center), Plantsville, on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021. Formerly of Bristol and Terryville, Lois was born on June 1, 1933, in the Greystone section of Terryville to Evelyn (Eva) Peterson Johnson and Richard Theodor Johnson. Lois was a graduate of Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing becoming a BS RN. For many years Lois worked as a visiting nurse at Plymouth Public Health. Lois believed: Do what's right and do what's good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person. Our Mom loved all the people and patients she visited and was why she loved nursing. Lois was predeceased by her husband Roland A. Kamens, Sr. of Bristol and her siblings Richard (Sonny), Marion, Harold (Toddy), Robert and Beverly (Johnson) Damsker. Lois is survived by her daughters Cindy Kamens and fiancé Dennis of Madrid, Maine; Sandra Kamens of Bristol; Robin Gudeczauskas and husband Donald of Terryville; sons Art Kamens and wife Jennifer of Terryville and Philip Kamens of Harwinton; her grandchildren Katy and husband Joe; Chelsea, Bryan, Emily and Michael and her great-grandson Alexander. She also leaves behind her sisters: Doris Bondeson, Sandra Colasanto, Evelyn Cote and Elaine Cote and many nieces and nephews. The family extends a very warm and special thanks to the wonderful staff of Live Well who took extraordinary care of Lois during her 4 years there. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Terryville Congregational Church at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be one hour prior at the Church. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in the spring at the convenience of the family.
