Nancy McCarthy Obituary

Nancy Quinlan McCarthy, 82, beloved wife of Gary McCarthy, Sr. for 62 years, died on Saturday Jan. 23, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Attorney Edward J. Quinlan and Nancy Peck Quinlan. Nancy attended Thomas H. Patterson School, Bristol High School Class of 1956, attended Springfield College and was certified as an EMT at age 47. Nancy had a passion for art especially drawing, sketching and painting. Summers were spent with her family and Nantucket was a favorite vacation spot. Swimming and skiing were her loved activities as well as listening to classical music. She worked for Bristol VNA for many years which was founded by her great aunt Filena Peck. She enjoyed her grandchildren Connor, Quinlan, Kayleigh, Garrett, Riley, Mark, Jr., Devon, Mason, Gabriella and one great grandchild Bella plus her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she is survived by her son Gary, Jr. and his wife Denise, daughter Rachael and her husband Mark and son Christopher and his wife Karen. Nancy was also predeceased by her daughter Sharon and her son Timothy plus her brothers Dr. Edward Quinlan, John Quinlan, sisters Mary Donovan and Florence Cuenin. Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, is honored to serve the family and all funeral services are private including her interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. My godmother is going to live in my heart forever! She is and will always be the greatest, strongest, most supportive aunt in addition to being a loving wife, great mom, grandma and friend a person could ever want. “Aunt Nancy, you are Awesome! Thank you for making me the man I am today.” I will never let you leave my heart. ❤❤❤
