Ronald Wollenberg Obituary

Ronald N.L. Wollenberg, 88, of Terryville, husband of the late Mary Jane (Uebrick) Wollenberg for 61 years, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at Bristol Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Terryville born on Nov. 10, 1934, the youngest son of the late Albert and Albertina (Haupt) Wollenberg. He was a graduate of Terryville High School, Class of '52. Ronald proudly served in the US Army. He started his business R. Wollenberg Inc. in 1959.
Ron belonged to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and served the church in many capacities. He was a member of the American Legion Plymouth Post 20, Plymouth Republican Town Committee, and an honorary life member of the Terryville Fish & Game Club. He was on the Town of Plymouth Board of Assessment Appeal and, The Town of Plymouth Public Works Advisory Board.
He was a past member and chairman of the Plymouth Police Commission, a past member of the Bristol Civic Theater. Ron was a recipient of the Plymouth Republican Volunteer of the Year award (1998). Ron had a few hobbies: ice fishing, bowling and singing in the church choir. Ron was a respected heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and business owner. When working, he was the happiest running his bulldozer.
Ron is survived by his sons, Daniel Wollenberg and his wife Elizabeth of Terryville and Robert C. Wollenberg of NC; his daughter-in-law Joyce Wollenberg of Plainville; his grandchildren, Elise Wollenberg (Sara), Victoria Bento (Kyle), Todd Wollenberg, Glenn Wollenberg (Jacy), and Sean Wollenberg (Briana); his great-grandchildren, Ryder, Noah and Clementine; his brother Wilbert Wollenberg (Diane); and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Ron was predeceased by his brothers, Albert, Robert and Richard, and his sister Eleanor Stafstrom.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8 Maple St, Terryville. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Terryville, in the spring. Calling hours will be on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, from 5-8 p.m., in the family home, 48 N. Riverside Ave, Terryville. A shuttle will be available from the Scott Funeral Home parking lot at 169 Main Street, Terryville, to the family home at 48 North Riverside Avenue.
