Harrison Taylor Obituary

Harrison Blake Taylor, 21, of Shallotte, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, as the result of an accident. He was born in Wilmington on July 22, 1994, a son of Raymond Scott Taylor and Valerie Reynolds Taylor. He was a member of Shallotte Presbyterian Church.
Harrison completed junior and senior high school at Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head Island, S.C. He was chosen to represent The First Tee of Brunswick County in the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, an official Champions Tour event televised nationally on the Golf Channel. His foursome included Clint Eastwood, chairman of the event, and Jay Haas.
Harrison attended N.C. State University in the nuclear engineering program where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He was employed by Duke Power as a procurement engineer.
He earned his captain's license and enjoyed fishing, other water sports and spending time with his dog, Klutch.
In the short span of time we all knew the gift of having Harrison in our lives, we are better people for that blessing. There has never been a better son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and, most importantly, a bright light in all our lives. Thankfully, he will always live in our hearts.
In addition to his parents in Shallotte, Harrison is survived by his brother, Chandler Taylor of Shallotte Point; paternal grandmother, Dorothy G. Taylor of Kinston; his maternal grandmother, Joan Owens and maternal grandfather, Mark Owens, of Holden Beach; his special friend, Kara Wilcox; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and too many friends to mention. He was loved by everyone who knew him.
A funeral service of burial and resurrection will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at Shallotte Presbyterian Church by the Rev. John Causey. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Brunswick County First Tee, P.O. Box 1820, Shallotte, NC 28459.

I didn't personally know Harrison ,but my son Josh Engebretson met him when he was a senior in high school @ west brunswick a few years ago and Harrison would frequently pick up Josh from our house to go fishing and often was accompanied by other close friends like Kyle Powers and Timmy. I can't even begin to comprehend the horrific nightmare that you're family and friends (as well as my son and Harrison and chandlers imutual friends) are facing. I will be praying for everyone who is affected by this tragedy!
