Patsy Ruth Mintz

Patsy Ruth Gurganus Mintz, 68, of Shallotte, formerly of Ash, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, in Grand Strand Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Born in Duplin County on Aug. 25, 1949, Patsy was a daughter of the late Johnny Nicholas and Vera Irene Byrd Gurganus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Mintz; two brothers, Johnny Ray Gurganus and James Morris Gurganus; and a sister, Frances Juanita Futrell.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Fulwood and husband, Phillip, of Ocean Isle Beach, Pamela "Punky" Simpson of the home and Tammy Lentz and husband, Steve, of Fayetteville; three brothers, Allen Gurganus of Beulaville, Travis Gurganus and wife, Janice, of Maysville and Wilbert Gurganus and wife, Jackie, of Richlands; two sisters, Betty Davis and husband, Milton, of Chinquapin and Gloria Locklear and husband, Mike, of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Michael and Amber Fulwood, Emily Cruz and Kimberly Lentz; and great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Lentz, Noah Locklear, Natalie Cruz, Melanie Cruz, Jackson Fulwood and "Little Bean."
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, in the chapel of White Funeral and Cremation Service, Shallotte by the Rev. Landis Lancaster. Interment followed in Mintz Cemetery.
The family received friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that monetary donations be made in her name to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
Casket bearers were Milton Davis, Travis Gurganus, Angel Cruz, Matthew Locklear, Allen Gurganus and Adam Locklear.
