I just learned of Carl and Lois' passing via Sue at Xmas. I knew them both most of my life. I am the granddaughter of "Uncle Bud" and Shaf ( Lily and Bud Shafer)and played with Sue, Greg and Beth for many years as we visited Bucyrus and my grandparents at 526 Clark St. I am terribly sad to learn of these deaths. The Ides were one of the last ties to my Bucyrus family and these ties went back at least 60 years for me. Both my father and brother were born in Bucyrus. The Ides took care of my family graves in the cemetery across from their house for years ...where my grandparents, my parents ( Boyd and Carol Shafer) and my son are buried. I send my deepest sympathies and love for those lives very well lived. Kirstin Shafer Moritz, Falmouth, MA

I just learned of Dr. Ide's death. He brought me into this world back in 1952. I thought he was a great doctor. Our family moved away from Bucyrus in 1969 and have missed him being my doctor. He was a wonderful doctor and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Ide, Sue, Beth and family,

So sad to know and read about the passing of Dr. Ide. Our caring thoughts are with you.

Dr. Ide delivered me in the Bucryus Hospital on November 26, 1948.
Dr. Ide was our family doctor, neighborhood friend, most caring family man and loving father.
I was fortunate to have spent my early years together with the Ide family, as Greg and I were best friends. From our early Norton grade school days forward
Dr. and Mrs. Ide were always there for all of us. During the cold and snowy winters, Dr. Ide, Greg and Sue, would join the rest of the neighgborhood in sledding down the hilly Oakwood Cemetary roads.
I recall the grand Christmas that 'Santa' brought a wonderful Lionel train set for Greg, as Dr. Ide and "Uncle Bud" spent a full day setting up the special Lionel train layout in the living room; with patience he taught Greg how to drive a manual shift Oldsmobile for the first time near Martin Ave. and how Dr. Ide gave medical care for a neighbor, right in the Ide home.
The cherished memories continue as I read that Dr. Ide helped to build the swinging Sandusky River bridge near Allmiller park and more.
All of us will sadly miss Dr. Ide.

Dr. Ide was a great man. He was my family doctor when I was a child. No matter how very sick I was he could somehow always make me laugh. What a great guy and with so much wisdom. As I grew older Doc helped me put so many things in perspective, he certainly had a lot of insight. He will always be remebered. Love to all of his family.

A kinder more giving man, doctor,Sunday school teacher,I have not known! Dr Ide was our families physican, he brought my mother back to good health and cared for us all over the years. He taught Sunday school in the best most open and wonderful manner. It was known by all how he loved his family , I have memories and life lessons that I have passed to my children and and stories such as the day Dr Ide was taking a fish hook out of my knee and he had to stop and take care of my dad who almost passed out. Lois and family my deepest condolances.

To many people, he was known as Dr. Ide; to me he was just Grandpa. And as caring and as wonderful of a man he was, he was an even more special grandfather. We had so many memories, such as our favorite game when I was a kid. We'd climb up on grandpas leg and he'd bounce us up and down while singing a german song. I never knew what the song was about, but it didn't matter. Or seeing him every christmas evening sitting on the couch with his pants hiked up just enough to reveal his fuzzy santa socks that he wore every year. And with the season sneaking upon us, I'm so sad to think he won't be there to share yet another memorable year with us. But I'm so grateful to have had such an amazing man as my grandpa and I'm also grateful for the wonderful memories that I will carry with me until I see him again. I love and miss you Ggp!

That is something that I will carry with me forever, until I see him again...We love and miss you so much ggpa!

Dr Ide was one of the few great physicians that Bucyrus has ever had! Most of the old boys are gone now, but never forgotten. He was always so very caring. I had the privilige of him being my personal physician as well as my whole family and my children until his retirement. My mom (Phyllis Sand) worked with and knew him very well, she to will be sad to hear that your loved one has passed on. You all were very lucky to have such a special man in your lives. He will be greatly missed.

DR IDE WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME. HE WAS MY PHYSICIAN UNTIL I MOVED TO THE TOLEDO AREA. I ALSO WORKED WITH HIM AT BUCYRUS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL WHERE I WORKED IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND SURGERY. ASSISTED HIM WITH SURGERIES, OFTEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. HE WAS A WONDERFUL AND CARING PHYSICIAN. VERY EASY TO WORK WITH. HE NEVER WAS DEMANDING AND NEVER GOT ANGRY. BUT MORE THAN THAT HE WAS LIKE A FATHER TO ME. HE LISTENED TO MY PROBLEMS AND HELPED ME A GREAT DEAL OVER THE YEARS. HE REALLY CARED AND LISTENED WITHOUT BEING JUDGEMENTAL. HIS WISDOM HELPED ME OVER MANY HURDLES. I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL. HIS FAMILY IS VERY LUCKY TO HAVE HAD HIM AS A HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER. BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL. ANYONE WHO GOT TO KNOW MY GRANDPA, GOT TO KNOW A VERY SPECIAL MAN. A CARING MAN, A PROFESSIONAL MAN, A VERY LOVING AND FORGIVING MAN; AND A VERY WONDERFULL HUSBAND. THEY GOT TO KNOW A FAMILY MAN. GRANDPA WAS A QUIET MAN, ALWAYS TRYING TO BETTER EVERYONE ELSE, AND NEVER WORRYING ABOUT, OR WANTING ANYONE ELSE WORRYING ABOUT HIS OWN TROUBLES. ALWAYS THOUGHTFULL OF THE OTHER PEOPLE IN HIS LIFE. THE LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, CAREING AND THOUGHTFULLNESS MY GRANDPA HAD, AND GAVE, DOES NOT COME OFTEN. I MISS YOU GRANDPA, VERY, VERY MUCH. I REALIZE YOU ARE BETTER OFF NOW, BUT IT STILL HURTS. IM SURE IT WILL FOR A LONG, LONG TIME. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF UP THERE AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT A THING.

LOVE AND THOUGHTS FOR EVER,
ERIC

It is a privilege too know this family! I ask the Lord that every member of this family feels the arms of Jesus wrapped around them during this difficult time, His Healing touch on their shoulder when they feel weak and know their loved one has gone to our real home and that Dr. Ide is reaping the many rewards he deserves! Hang in there family; one day all of our hurts will be understood!! Bless all of you!!
