Harvey Langenderfer Obituary
- - Harvey Paul Langenderfer, age 93, was born to Henry A. and Elizabeth (Pinkleman) Langenderfer of Swanton, OH on June 26, 1924. God called him home on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. He was surrounded by his family. He married his beloved wife Genevieve Simon on July 24, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Assumption, OH who predeceased him in death on July 16, 2012.
He had four children: Scott (Paula) of Bucyrus, OH, David (Teresa) of Van Buren, OH, Randy (Melanie) of Sugarland, TX and Sally (Rick) of Canonsburg, PA along with 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his eight siblings: a sister Ange (Carl) Kasper and seven brothers, Gilbert (Theresa), Ken (Gertrude), Robert (Eloise), Raymond (Ethel Reda), Charles (Joan), Urban (Maggie), Paul (Alice) all deceased.
He was a veteran serving his country in the Army Air Corps during the Second World War and served in Northern Africa and the Middle East. Upon discharge, he entered the University of Toledo where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at Surface Combustion and later at the Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde and Findlay, as the Manager of Plant Engineering. He retired in 1985 after 34 years and enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always enjoyed working with his hands and was always busy with building or repairing something in his spare time. He had been an active parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel, where he served on the Parish Council and was an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 957 and past member of the B.P.O.E #75. Harvey was a long-time member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church (Bright Road) in Findlay with Fr. Scott Woods officiating. Memorials can be made to St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.kirkpatrickbehnke.com
