Carol HASSELBACK Obituary
(nee Moore)
Of Elma, died peacefully after a yearlong struggle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at Roswell Park on Tuesday, June 7. She was 76. Carol was a music educator, holding teaching positions in school districts around Western New York. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Bertha (née Heintz) Moore; sister, Evelyn (late Ronald) Weider; parents-in-law, George and Ethel (née Rauschert) Hasselback of Queens; and stepmother, Margaret Roan Moore. She is survived by her husband John; children John (Lisa) Hasselback, Jr., Jane (Jonathan) Sullivan and Matthew (Gretchen Krull) Hasselback; nine grandchildren; sisters, Esther (Carl) Kopp and Shirley (Jay) Marshall; brother-in-law, George Hasselback; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and many good friends. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 784 Main St., in East Aurora was trusted with arrangements. The Hasselback family will be present on Sunday, June 12 from 2 to 6 PM and Monday, June 13 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be offered on Tuesday, June 14, at 10 AM, at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, Main Street in East Aurora. In lieu of flowers, the Hasselback family requests you support others who survive on blood donations by donating to the blood donation center of your choice.

I met Carol in the chemo dept. at Roswell where we both were being treated for the same disease, right before her transplant. I am so deeply saddened to hear that she didn't make it. She was always so positive and hopeful. What an incredible, beautiful woman! I am so very sorry!

Carol was such an amazing woman who certainly lived a very full and rewarding life. I always looked forward to visiting with her, whether at the Aurora Pet Hospital where she, John, and Matthew were my clients, or when voting at St. Vincent's church in Elma where she served as an election worker. She will be sadly missed. My deepest condolences to the entire family.
