David DAVIDSON Obituary

DAVIDSON - David M., Dpm
Age 80, on July 24, 2022, of Williamsville, NY. Beloved husband of Bette (Silverman) Davidson. Devoted father of Stuart (Suzanne), and Rachel (Richard) Kaplan. Brother of Hilda (Michael) Cahn and Susan (Richard) Braun. Spectacular grandfather of Aaron Davidson, Lindsey Davidson, and Alexa Kaplan. Friend, teacher, mentor, and healer to countless others. Born in Rochester, NY, in 1942 to the late Dr. Maurice and Phyllis (Horwich) Davidson, Dr. Davidson graduated from Syracuse University in 1964, and from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1968. Upon graduation from podiatry school, Dr. Davidson began practicing in Buffalo, pioneering the acceptance of podiatry at the major Buffalo hospitals, and becoming one of the most revered and sought-after podiatrists in Western New York. Known for his exceptional surgical skills, compassionate, but firm demeanor, and incredible wit and sense of humor, Dr. Davidson was adored by colleagues, employees, and patients alike. Dr. Davidson held numerous national and regional positions in the medical field, including podiatry, orthopedics, and wound care. He lectured extensively throughout the United States, authored more than 100 scientific papers, and contributed to numerous textbooks. In addition to his practice, he was a longtime Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at UB's Jacobs School of Medicine, and was the Medical Director of the Center for Wound Care at Millard Fillmore Hospital from 2006 to 2010. He received several prestigious awards, during his 53-year career, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York State Podiatric Medical Association in 2022. He was also a well-respected member of the Jewish community, locally and nationally, serving as President of Temple Beth Zion and Regional President of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. Dr. Davidson was an avid runner for decades, completed several marathons, and exercised daily. He was consistently told he looked 20 years younger than his age. Of most importance, Dr. Davidson absolutely adored his family, especially his three grandchildren, and loved to tell stories about his ancestors. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Sunday, August 7, 2022, in the Sanctuary of Temple Beth Zion, 805 Delaware Avenue. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in David's memory to either of the following: Holy Cross Health, Attn: Department of Development, 4725 N. Federal Hwy., Ft. To the Family of Dr. Davidson:

I was a patient of Dr. Davidson for 21 years. I'm so very sorry to hear of his passing. I first met Dr. Davidson when I took my best friend to a doctor's appointment she had with him. I never thought I would need to see an Orthopedic Surgeon, but that wasn't the case when I broke my left foot, and now my best friend took me to see Dr. Davidson. Dr. Davidson was always very nice, who had a great bedside manner, as well as a thorough doctor. I really enjoyed my visits. I'm so embarrassed to admit that I broke my right foot 6 years later, and back to Dr. Davidson I went. I couldn't believe it happened again, and he just smiled and said you did it again. i was in so much pain, but i still had to chuckle. Over the next few years, I needed to schedule more appointments for other issues, and Dr. Davidson always provided the best care. I was so sad when I heard that Dr. Davidson was going to retire, but at the same time I was happy because I knew he was going to be able to spend more time with his family.

Sending sincere prayers, and hugs to Dr. Davidson's family. I will truly miss him. God Bless.

So sorry to see this today.
I used to bring him and the Doctors their medical supplies when they were on Harlem Rd., and then in the Dent Bldg. on Sheridan Drive. He was also my Doctor too, very good bed side manner and took the time to say hello if he passed you in the hall. I too knew him for years. Can't find a Foot Doctor like him anymore.

"GREW UP" WITH DAVE--from little kids to teenage days in Brighton in the 1950s-He was a wonderful magnetic personality fellow. He had a terrific personality. He was a special person during his youth--and everyone wanted to be his friend. From camp to school to social events--Dave filled out the 50s with memorable associations. I am very sorry to hear of his passing but I am glad he had a very succesfull career and a large loving family. I can still remember playing basketball against his garage --sure glad I had those times with Dave.

This is such a shock. Our deepest condolences to you. I, Gregory, was s patient of the Doctor for 15+ years. I was saddened to see him retire but glad he was moving on. If it wasn't for him I would have lost both my feet. What a gift he gave me. I never would have guessed his age. I so enjoyed our conversations. One of the giants in his profession is gone. The world is a little worse with his loss. Rest In Peace.
