Deeply saddened to hear of Eric's passing. 63 is barely past adolescence in the world in which we live. I knew Eric as a suite-mate at Fordham College. Did not even know that he - like myself - went on to law school and legal practice. It sounds as if he was a successful man on all fronts, as I would have expected from the young collegiate I knew. My prayers are with his loved ones and especially his children. Gregory Michael MacGregor, Fordham College 1971

I just read of Eric's passing in the Fordham alumni magazine and am sorry for your loss. I knew him in his Fordham days and always considered him one of the most exceptional men I met there. He was an outstanding football player, generous with his time, quick to laugh and very, very smart. I have fond memories of sitting in the stands on Saturday afternoons chanting "EDadd, EDadd" as he ran over and around opposing players.

Word just got to me about Eric's way-too-early passing. We played tennis during Eric's Devorsitz Law Firm year(s). His was a game of under-control aggression. What he lacked in style, he more than compensated with determination and smarts. And a "this is this" man of integrity guy off the court. Eric-a very good man. His friendship will be remembered.

To Eric's Family, my heartfelt sympathies.
I just learned of Eric's passing from the SU Magazine I received, as a fellow law school graduate. Needless to say, I was shocked and deeply saddened.
I was a year younger than Eric and came to know him as a member of the Syracuse Law Review. I had expressed an interest in writing something having to do with sports, but little did I anticipate the tornado that was about to descend about me and how my law school days would change. Skinny little kid from Elmira, NY meets linebacker-wanna-be from Buffalo.
As my new advisor, Eric explained how the entire 4th Edition of the Law Review was going to be a Symposium on Sports and the Law. Eric took me under his wing, and away we went (to the exclusion of most all my classes)!
When I would get tired of doing another rewrite, adding a new section, more research, or thinking about a different angle, proposition or counter argument, Eric would simply say it's a matter of how much pressure you can handle. When the other LR Board members wanted to know where my next draft was, Eric would run interference to give me more time.
What started out for me as just a short 3 or 4 page "Case Note", turned into a 40 page "Lead Article", something usually reserved for outside authorities or law professors from other institutions.
"Sex Discrimination in Interscholastic High School Athletics and Title IX" was published in the Spring of 1974 and was one of the proudest law-related accomplishments I have ever had. Only because of Eric's mentoring, editing, blocking and tackling, did it come to pass. He as much as anyone taught me how to write, and how to do it with fewer words -- this piece notwithstanding. It was the best time of my law school career.
I will always remember his whirlwind style, quizzical looks, toothy grin, warm hearted nature (despite the football exterior), his direct manner of speaking and his sense of humor.
The picture painted by another of Eric dashing down the courthouse hallways, jacket flapping, hand running through his hair is just the way he was in the halls of the Law School.
Although I very much regret not having seen or spoken to Eric in many years to catch that grin or his laugh one more time, I was heartened to read all the preceding comments and learn of how many children and grandchildren he was blessed with knowing how much pure joy he surely had with all of you.
Sincerely
Dan Bizzoco

The Dadd family was always a part of mine. Katherine Dadd took me under her wing. I was a little girl and she loved me. She took me everywhere. I think she felt sorry for me. She knew I was a little girl among a large family. She took me under her wing and made an effort and took me under her wing. She even took me among all her friends and mom and dad. Then she went to camp and the next thing I heard is that she died. She was the most influential person in my life.

Dear Ann,
I'm very sorry to hear that Eric passed away suddenly. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
I became acquainted with Eric while I was serving as a court clerk with the New York State Supreme Court. I clerked at least one or two trials where Eric was plaintiff's counsel. I never thought that our paths would ever cross at a much different time and place. After I retired, I moved to Key West, FL and became involved in local community affairs. I joined Last Stand and served on their board. Eric represented Last Stand and several individuals, including myself, in a successful lawsuit preventing the spread of transient rentals throughout Old Town neighborhoods.

Sadden by the news of Eric T. Dadd's death...he was a friend first and foremost, but also an attorney that I, along with many others, highly respected....just honored and happy I had the privilege to work with him for so many years and see him in action many times in a court room !! It was like magic to know him as a friend yet at the same time. ....in his professional role... watch him "fly" down the court house hallway, fixing his tie with one hand, notes on a yellow pad in the other, smoothing down his hair while asking for a pen, it always kept me wondering .... until he walked into that room.... he was ALWAYS calm, prepared and ready, be it in a court room, committee room or while negotiating for the county... "his work and his word" spoke volumes about who he was......he will be sadly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Eric's untimely passing. Eric and I spent many hours together when he was clerking for Judge Moriarty "back in the day". He, like his father before him will be long remembered in the western New York legal community.
