94, of E. Amherst, entered into rest on January 2, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Kostas "Gus" Lignos; devoted mother of Irene Lignos and Paul Cronis Lignos; loving daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Batsiarou) Karantonas; dear sister of the late Andoni (late Katina) Karantonas, late Eleni Karantonas and late Emmanuel Karantonas; cherished aunt of Eleni (Saki) Kariki, Helen (late Paul) Bernier and the late Elizabeth Karantonas; fond great-aunt of Michael (Mary) Bernier, Nicholas (Sarah) Bernier, Katerina (Pavlos) Karagiannidis, Olga Kariki and Anastasia Kariki. Fay immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island after World War II, made Buffalo her home and was a faithful member of Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. She worked as a professional seamstress for various entities. Fay had a special place in her heart for children and spent 22 years of her retirement as a Foster Grandma in the Buffalo School System and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by Mayor Byron Brown. Relatives and friends may visit the Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel), 885 Niagara Falls Blvd (near Eggert/ Sheridan Dr,) on Monday, January 8 from 3-7pm and where the Trisagion will be said at 6:30pm. A funeral service will be held at Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation,146 W. Utica St., Buffalo on Tuesday, January 9 at 10 o'clock (please assemble at church). Interment Elmlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fay Lignos' name to Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. Online condolences may be made at www.lombardofuneralhome.com.
