James Smothermon Obituary

Smothermon,

James N., Jr

December 31, 1954 - March 2, 2025

Beloved son of the late James Smothermon and Violet Smothermon; brother of Jocelyn Kurtz (Rick), Bonny Hoeflein (Karl) and David Smothermon (Kim Schillinger). The two things Jimmy loved most of all were his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and telling everyone how much Jesus loved them. As a family we are feeling what the Bible describes as, "sorrowful yet always rejoicing." But despite our sadness we're also rejoicing. We're rejoicing because he's been restored mentally, emotionally, and physically. We're rejoicing because right now Jimmy is drumming and dancing, singing and charming everybody in heaven with his dimpled smile. We're rejoicing because someday we'll be reunited with him and can worship God together. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, April 26, 11 a.m. at Lovejoy Church, 5423 Genesee St., Lancaster, 14086. Donations in Jimmy's name may be sent to his church, Love Joy Church. I considered Jimmy a friend. He influenced my walk with Jesus as did Jimmy's mother and sister. I think of Jimmy often.

My condolences to the family and friends of James. I hope he is playing on the biggest drum kit ever.
