John Brady Obituary

Brady, John G.

Dec 2, 1948 - Nov 27, 2024

A brilliant and renowned musician and Grammy-nominated composer, was also deeply passionate about teaching and mentored many aspiring and successful musicians throughout his career. Inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2003, John was not only a talented artist but also a loving single father. He often referred to his son, Sean D. Brady (Sheila Herd) of Sacramento, California, as his greatest creation. He is also survived by his sister, Sr. Patricia Brady SSMN of Clarence, New York. John was born on December 2, 1948 in Buffalo, New York, to John A. and Emily G. (Gerasimowicz) Brady. A lifelong resident of Buffalo, John was a tremendous asset to the music community. John will be deeply missed and will always be remembered for his quiet demeanor, big heart, uncompromising integrity, remarkable musical talent, sharp wit and irreverent sense of humor. In remembrance of John's life and love, the family asks that in lieu of gifts or flowers any charitable donations be made to White Whiskers Dog Sanctuary, 35 Lewis Road, Akron, NY 14001 or The Community Music School, 217 E. Delevan Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14208. A celebration of life is being planned for the very near future. Arrangements by D. LAWRENCE GINNANE FUNERAL HOME, Kenmore, NY. Sean, your Dad was so proud of you. Condolences to you and John’s sister. Thru the almost fifty years of knowing John, he spoke lovingly of you both.
Dear John, May this be a temporary good bye and hope to see you on the other side playing your guitar, singing your songs and sharing some laughs together. Even though a continent divided us, thank you for all the good memories, teaching my son, Aaron, guitar when we’d visit Buffalo and being our friend. You will be missed!
with love, Louise Dzimian

I was just recently informed by Frank P (owner) of the Tudor lounge on Franklin St Buffalo a few days ago this week of John Brady's passing in Nov. John Brady played at the Tudor lounge the 1st Saturday of the month (3-6 pm). Very talented & his backups complimented his songs. He played guitar & had amazing voice. His knowledge of the blues was reflected well in his state performance. Back in March 2024, I left from the Shamrock run & was passing by the Tudor & heard this amazing band playing. That is how I discovered John Brady & would continue 2 stop over on Saturdays the 1st of the month at the Tudor. He had a following of those patrons that supported him. I took him 4 granted & hoped 2 c him there again. Thank u John 4 your gift. I would like 2 think that u r next 2 the late Stevie Ray Vaughn w/Peter at the pearly gates above watching over us. I will never 4 get u & am grate 2 u 4 picking the Tudor 2 play there. Thank u John Brady of the John Brady blues band.
