I will never forget Mr. Carney yelling at us to stop running around the Irish center when we were kids. I was so surprised to see him at my dad's funeral a few years ago. It was really lovely to see him. I'm so sad to hear of his passing passing. He was such a lovely man. RIP Mr. Carney

Dear Rita and the entire Carney family, our sincere thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. What a kind and loving man your dad was. I will miss his presence at mass in the morning at Saint Theresa‘s. I was always so glad to see him and give him a hug and a kiss. He had such a tremendous strong faith and I am sure he is celebrating In glorious Heaven with your mother and Our Heavenly Father. God bless you all.

My mother, Freda Lawn, passed on the sad news of John´s passing. She said "Do you remember your friend Emer?" Of course I do, I said. I spent a lot of my childhood in the Buffalo Irish Center, and every time I finished Irish Dancing class, I´d go downstairs for a drink of water and John was there so often, to greet me with a smile, a chat and often a sneaky bag of crisps. We were great friends, and it has been so many years since I met John but I think of him often for his kindness, for which he expected nothing in return.
Myself and my family are now all living back in Ireland so not able to be there with you but please accept our condolences on your father / grandfather´s passing. I hope you are able to "celebrate" him, we will raise a glass to him here.
Kind regards, thoughts and prayers,
Emer Lawn (and the whole family - Robert, Freda, Tracy and Bobby) xo

All here were saddened to hear of Uncle Johnny's passing. He is now with his beloved wife Maureen. They were such a lovely gentle and devoted couple. Uncle Johnny had the most wonderful smile. We have great memories of their many trips to Ireland. Our deepest sympathies to Bernie and all our cousins. May his gentle soul rest in peace... Anne, Tony and family..

I always went to the Irish Lunch in South Buffalo at the Irish Center with my Dad when he was alive. He always looked forward to seeing your father/grandfather. Every year he introduced me to him as the Nicest man from South Buffalo. My Dad died 15 years ago, and every lunch since, I would always say hello, and he tell me how he missed my dad. Amy and I will keep your family in our prayers.

Condolences from the family of John & Rita McGrath. When my mother was sick, her sister in Indiana would send cards & letters with the correct address on them. Many times, John & Maureen would meet my parents at church and give them mail that had been delivered to them by mistake. The house number was the same, but the street was entirely different.

Sympathies from Massachusetts for the loss of such a fine man to Bernadette, Rita, Gene, Brendan, Sean and the Clan. Thanks for the memories of playing cards at the kitchen table at S. Ryan, or having a cup of tea with John & Maureen while Gene put the comb to his fine hair before we went out and about. Our thoughts are with you.

John (Johnny) had 5 brothers of whom mine (JV) was the eldest. They had a kind of father/son relationship after the untimely death of our grandfather. Johnny used tell me that JV would not let him out of the house unless he was impeccable!
To all my American cousins, I tell you that Johnny was a beautiful man and 50% of a beautiful couple.
He will live on within you to the end of days.
