John Cordes Obituary

Cordes, John William

Mar 12, 1944 - Jan 13, 2025

Of Tonawanda, New York, passed away peacefully at the age of 80. He was born in Buffalo, New York. He is survived by his spouse of 58 years, Stephanie (nee Maggio) Cordes; his children Kristin (Paul) Clinkhammer and John J. (Greg Covelli) Cordes; and his granddaughter Jordan Ostrowski. A proud and fiercely devoted family man, beloved friend, John was a generous, nurturing and kind soul. He was a lifelong member of the Continentals. He loved to make people smile and was always willing to help those in need. His hobbies included; helping his granddaughter with her math homework, golfing, and indulging in his love for fast boats and cars. He had a special passion for Corvettes. A car show aficionado. John served his country in the Air Force Reserves. He was a true patriot, and our hero. Truly, one of a kind. There are no words that can describe how much his family will miss him...Heaven has truly gained an angel; Aka Saint John, Aka Cookie Monster, Aka Best human I know, Aka Papa, Aka Dad. As per John's wishes, there will be no public services. His family will honor his memory as a Celebration of Life in a private ceremony at a later date.
