Coach Corey or Joe as you wanted me to call you. I was thinking of you last night as 1 of your star players at Baker was inducted into the GBSHF. While I met you before my HS yrs I never had a chance to play for you or with Kevin. We did have many conversations about him and his career. I always left impressed with the way you thought of him and his teammates. The story's left a strong impression. I certainly miss those times.
I hope your family has found peace and strength since your passing. Joe RIP My friend

My deepest and sincere condolences Elaine, David and family for the loss of Coach Corey! Yep, he was one tough coach, but, yet so charismatic in his persona. A caring person who branded and nurtured many of us at Father Baker. Not only was he a great coach, but a great person with a big heart who guided and mentored us all. I will always remember him and our days at Baker. May Our Lord Bless and Comfort you all . . .

I think Mr. Corey took the words of Our Blessed Lord to heart and lived them... "For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve." He was a mentor and friend to me and so many others at Baker-Victory High School. I will never forget one time when I had really screwed up after lying to him. Instead of coming down hard on me -- which I really deserved -- he forgave for my transgression. During great phone conversation we had a year or so ago he offered to pray for my now 11-year-old daughter Bella who has a serious lung disease. I am praying for the repose of Mr. Corey's soul. May the perpetual light shine upon him. Mike State. Baker-Victory '76.

He was fair but firm, and he was there for everybody. He was a friend to everybody. He will be missed. He will always be in our thoughts, prayers, and memories. My sympathy to his family. May he always rest in peace in Jesus's Name.

I don't think I could put into words just how much Mr. Corey meant to us when we were students at Baker. His persistence, patience, and guidance carried over to both of us as we were raising our own family. He taught us about more than just athletics. He was our friend. I cried on his shoulder more than just once, and he was always the teacher. It wasn't always about winning with this man. He wanted all of his kids (Baker-Victory) students to succeed in life after Baker. His life was dedicated to helping all of us at Baker in so many more ways than just sports. THANK YOU SIR. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR LIVES AND WE WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL THAT YOU WERE A LARGE PART OF OUR JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE. Thank You.

There are no words to make your sorrow any easier. Joe was a life long friend. He put up a great fight but obviously heaven needs a coach for all the Ryan basketball players up there. He will be remembered at our annual Memorial Mass in the fall at the Church of St. Casimir. God Bless

I remember Joe from my years growing up in Buffalo's Lovejoy neighborhood when he was in charge of the Hennepin Park Community Center for a time. He did so much to encourage young people to make the right choices and use the talents and skills they had to better themselves whether it was on the basketball court or in everyday life. He encouraged my brother, Jeff, to go into coaching basketball at Diocesan Prep where he had several very good teams. He was a wonderful, caring man and I have great memories of him. May he rest in peace and may God comfort all who mourn his loss.
