Judith Behr Obituary

Judith Ann 'Judy' Behr passed peacefully at home on the evening of Thursday, October 26th, 2023, surrounded by her devoted husband Dennis and her family after a long-fought battle with Alzheimer's. In this time of sadness, we are reminded of what a beautiful, faith-filled, and vibrant life Judy lived. Dennis and Judy's love story began as young teenagers. Married on October 19, 1963; they've recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. A week prior to their anniversary, when shown a picture of her wedding day by her daughter, she held onto the photo for some time and then kissed it. This was one of many signs that showed her family that she would, in fact, be celebrating their 60th anniversary alongside Dennis. Their hearts and souls have been bound together in endless love for six decades.

Dennis and Judy were blessed with 6 children, 23 grandchildren, and 11 beautiful great-grandchildren. After being home to raise her children, Judy attended Buffalo State University where she completed her teaching degree, further dedicating her life to children through her love of learning. She was an incredible teacher, touching the lives of many in the WNY area. Her creativity came through in her teaching; always finding new ways to teach through drawings, craft projects, songs, and storytelling. She loved stories, both reading them and writing them. Judy was a published writer, being recognized for her short stories, stories about her family, and her baking recipes. She was an avid tennis player over the past 25 years, and organized groups to play as well, both indoor and outdoor, at the Miller Tennis Center. She loved the competition and the camaraderie that came along with the sport and helped organize groups so others could love it too. Off the court, if not with her family, she was also known to enjoy time with her lifelong friends and card club members; friendships she held very dear. A devout Catholic, Judy always remained a faithful parishioner; watching services on television, when traveling became more difficult. Judy's dedication to her family, her faith, and her friends were among her highest honors, along with various community volunteer endeavors. She so enjoyed hosting her loved ones for parties and gatherings; making sure her dogs were often dressed up for the occasion. Her passion and loyalty to the people and things in her life that she loved never went unnoticed. There was no shortage of laughter, she loved getting dressed up and never passed up an opportunity to take photos and laugh with her family and friends. Judy lived a beautiful life, filled with love, happiness, and joy. Though Judy will be missed dearly, we shall carry these incredible memories with us forever.

Judy is survived by her wonderful husband of 60 years, Dennis, and her 6 children - Molly (Tom) Watson, Annie (Bill) Kreutinger, Susan (Rob) Lesiak, Dennis (Jackie) Behr, Amy (Aaron) Taylor, and Kimberly (Jeremy) Colby, her 23 grandchildren - Nick, Monica, Billy (Paula), Adam (Maria), Sarah, Joey (Hannah), Mark, Carrie (Ian), Chrissy (Alex), Jeremy, Maria, Becky, Anna, Evan, Lucy, Johnny, Trevor, Eddie, Barry, Katie, Owen, Frances, Gabby and 11 great-grandchildren -William, Samson, Abigail, Alaska, Huey, Winifred, Clark, Judy, Conner, Ernie and Olivia. Judith is predeceased by her parents, Frances 'Franny' and Howard, and her brother Howard 'Howie' (Carmel). She is also survived by her brother-in-law Kenneth (Mary) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her with fondness.

Judy and I were friends at about the age of 7 or 8. I lived on Verdun St and Judy Kenova St which was the next street over. We attended Blessed Trinity School and then onto highschool.
I was invited to Dennis and Judy´s beautiful wedding and reception.
Our card club is the best, we´ve been together 60 years.
Judy I will miss you so much, you were so very artistic, creative and so very sweet.
My loving and caring thoughts are with your beautiful family.
Goodbye my dear friend

Judy was a wonderful friend and neighbor, she shared her many angel stories with all of us, during our fifty-three years of friendship in our pinochole club. She will be sadly missed, but I am happy that I had the wonderful experience of her friendship. I will miss you, Judy. Love and prayers to the family. Judy is at rest with her angels. Audrey
