Lorene POTTER Obituary

POTTER - The Rev. Lorene H.
Passed peacefully May 25, 2023 at the age of 91. A graduate of Barnard College (1953). She served on the Buffalo Museum of Science Board and the Board of Visitors at The Park School of Buffalo. She was a life member of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and a longtime member of The Garret Club. She was a rigorous researcher, completing genealogies of her husband's family and her own going back four centuries using family records and visiting historical societies, town halls, libraries and cemeteries to confirm dates of birth, death, and marriages. Called to the Episcopal ministry and ordained in 1987, she served at the former St. Thomas's Episcopal Church as pastor and Trinity Episcopal Church, as well as numerous others as a visiting pastor. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. M. Grosvenor Potter, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Abigail Hutchinson and Rebecca Glikbarg, two sons, M. Grosvenor, III and David, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or the Buffalo Museum of Science.

Condolences. I knew her first when she was enrolled in the graduate anthropology program at UB, then as docent at the Science Museum and in the Episcopal clergy in Buffalo; from time to time, but then we lost touch. She was a warm and friendly person. Phil Stevens, Emeritus, UB Anthropology.
