Mark JAY Obituary
Of Hamburg, entered into rest July 17, 2021. Beloved husband of Lynn M. (nee Schlierf) Jay; devoted father of Sarah (Paul) DeWald and Daniel Jay; cherished grandfather to be; loving son of the late Joseph and Anne (nee Stejbach) Jay; dear brother of Martin (Suzanne) Jay, Michael (Susan) Jay, Joseph (Judy) Jay and Mary Reistetter; also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel), 3060 Abbott Rd. near Lake Ave., on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark's name to the American Red Cross or Roswell Park Cancer Institute. I attended Canisius High School with Mark mike and Marty. I was desperate to score a varsity letter after not making the grade on the swim team so tried out for the wrestling team in my junior year. Despite little talent and weighing 165 pounds I made the team because we had no one in the 177 pound class. Mark of course was amazing like his brothers. I can´t remember him losing a match. And a great and generous teacher for the new kid. Canisius was THE wrestling powerhouse, and the wrestling team had the best record of all the sports which was saying something, due mainly to the Jays. They would build an early lead every week and then pray we could hold on in the heavier weight classes. So my main job was to keep from being pinned after the Jays would help build us that big lead. I would pretty much spend half the match arching on my back to avoid the pin because the pin was worth an extra two points. So my major memory of Mark is seeing him upside down, cheering me on. I can still see him banging on the mat. He taught me never to give up, a lesson I never forgot. God bless Mark and his beautiful family. The world needs more Marks.

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHIES ON THE PASSING OF MARK.
I MET MARK 20 YRS AGO WHEN I WAS INJURED AT WORK AND HE WAS ASSIGNED TO MY CASE.
MARK WAS THE MOST CARING, UNDERSTANDING PERSON TO DEAL WITH AND I WAS BLESSED TO HAVE HIM. OVER THE YEARS, OUR CONVERSIONS WOULD EXPAND AND STARTED A FRIENDSHIP.
MARK WAS A GOOD SOUL WHO CARED ABOUT OTHERS AND WE WERE BLESSED BECAUSE OF HIM.
GOD BLESS YOU MARK.
