Michael Pasquarella Obituary

Pasquarella, Michael A., Jr.

- December 7, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael A. Pasquarella,Jr.,who departed this world on December 7, 2023. Michael was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Darlene (nee Borzilleri), his brother Louis Pasquarella, his father Michael Victor Pasquarella, and mother Catherine (nee Alessi). He is survived by his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Michael Joseph Pasquarella and Deborah Sheftic Pasquarella, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Michael Jacob, Molly Rose, and Mara Ann. He is also survived by his siblings Lucile Polizzi, Sam Pasquarella, Marie Marie, sister-in-law Joanne Sorci, and life-long friend and "goomba" Carmelo Parisi. His memory will be fondly remembered by several beloved godchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and warmth. In addition to his family, Michael is survived by his girlfriend Angie Licata, who supported him through his extended illness. Her unwavering companionship and love provided comfort during challenging times, and her presence brought solace to Michael in his final days. Family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 1-4PM at the PERNA, DENGLER, Roberts Funeral Home, 1671 Maple Road. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Celebrated from St. Gregory the Great Church on Monday at 10:30AM, followed by Entombment at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Michael was a proud graduate of Grover Cleveland High School and Canisius College. After completing his education, he served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, dedicating two years to active duty. Following his military service, Michael embarked on a brief teaching career before joining the Internal Revenue Service. For an illustrious 26 years, Michael served as a Special Agent in the Criminal Division of the IRS, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to justice. His dedication and skills were further exemplified during his tenure as an investigator with the New York Inspector General's office, where he concluded his distinguished career. Throughout his civilian career, Michael also served with honor in the U.S. Army Reserves, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring. His military service was marked by exemplary dedication, earning him the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal, the highest military honor awarded during peacetime. Ultimately though, Michael's pride and joy were found in his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to wife Darlene for over 59 years, the later years accompanied by providing personal care during her chronic illness. His unwavering commitment and care for Darlene exemplified the depth of his love, and his selfless dedication will forever be etched in the hearts of those who witnessed their enduring bond. He very much looked forward to family gatherings, and he especially appreciated the many holidays hosted by his beloved niece, Lisa Pasquarella. One of Michael's greatest life lessons for his son Michael was that integrity and honesty have no price. They may result in sacrifice and even heartache, but they will also provide eternal peace and dignity. This invaluable lesson, among others, were acknowledged by the honor of serving as his son's Best Man in marriage-an occasion that celebrated not only the union of two lives but also the enduring values passed down through generations. In addition to spending time with his family, he found joy in yearly visits to St. Simons Island, Georgia, a place he discovered while teaching courses about financial crimes at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, GA. It was on this island that he and Darlene forged additional lifelong friendships and hosted annual visits from their grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, love, and the beauty of shared moments. Michael's ability to find joy amid challenges and to create lasting connections reflects the resilience of his spirit. His positive outlook served as an inspiration to all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to share in his journey. In honoring Michael's memory, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with faith in God, dedication to duty, love for family, and a lasting impact on the lives of those around him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his loved ones who preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Buffalo, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I wanted to express our condolences from the Wind Family. Mike and Darlene were next door neighbors of my parents growing up on Presidio Place. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Pasquarella Family during this time. I fondly remember "Mr. P" as a caring man who loved his family and was a kind neighbor. May God grant him peace in his kingdom where he can rest eternal in His grace.

My deep condolences to Mike's family. I had the pleasure to work with Mike during my time in the Army Reserve while in Buffalo. I know both my brother Joe and his wife Andrea had the pleasure to work with Mike at the IRS. My great nephew Dave was his barber and stated Mike always was generous with him.
I had hoped to see him while visiting Buffalo or when he visited Colorado.
He is in my prayers.

Michael and Deborah, Joan and I am sorry to hear of Michael's passing.
We can never forget the devotion that he showed to Darlene over those many years of her illness. It really showed the character of the man.
During the recent years, the Borzilleri clan would gather for an annual dinner when we came to town. Michael took center stage with his stories of past work episodes. We all enjoyed them.
You can be proud of him.
