Monte Hoffman Obituary

Hoffman, Monte K.

Nov 25, 1941 - May 25, 2024

Born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ, Monte began studying the cello at an early age, attending the esteemed Meadowmount School of Music in the summers of 1955-1960. He graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 1964 and found a home in the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for the next 55 years. He was an avid collector and maintained a lively real estate business. He had a deep love for watching and playing sports, fielding many softball teams and as a long-time member of the Buffalo Tennis & Squash Club. He was known throughout Buffalo as a friend and mentor to countless people. He is predeceased by his twin brother, George Hoffman. He is survived by his sister, Jane (Philip) Paress, his loving children Alicia (Bruce) Michielli, Mara (Javier) Hoffman, and Jonathan (Chandra) Hoffman, as well as his adored grandchildren, Luca, Joaquin, Hayden, Max, and Piper, cherished nieces and nephews, and his beloved partner of 15 years, Niscah Koessler. There will be no visitation or immediate services, but a memorial celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

I am so sorry to only see this now. Monte was a tremendous musician and an even better person. I got to know Monte by playing on his softball team, where he was also fun loving, passionate and supportive of all his teammates. To all his family and many friends - peace and blessings and thank you for being part of Monte's life. The world has lost a great man, but heaven has gained one. Bill and Kathy
