Nicholas KIEFER Obituary

KIEFER - Nicholas C.
Age 79, of West Seneca, NY, rounded 3rd base and headed home on June 4, 2022. He was surrounded by his dedicated wife of 58 years, Nancy (Reinard); and their three children, Nick (Amy), Ted (Lisa), and Deborah (Will Everett). Nick was born on November 3, 1942, to "Kief" and "Moots". He is survived by two sisters, Pat (Bob) Shanahan, and Sue (Randy) Sitarek; along with five nephews and three nieces. A survivor of attending grammar school at St. John the Evangelist, he went on to graduate from Seneca Vocational High School in 1960. There he served as class Treasurer and was known as a standout ball player, receiving numerous honors as a pitcher. Nick served proudly in the United States Navy, was honorably discharged, and provided for his family by dedicating over 31 years to General Motors. In retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at Meals on Wheels, umpiring recreational softball, and being an avid pedestrian. He was affectionately known as "the Mayor" as he enjoyed traversing his hometown of South Buffalo, frequenting various notable establishments. "Big Nick" or "Pa-Pa" will be remembered as a loving grandfather to Julianne, Kimberly, Nicholas, Kristian, Nick, and Phineas. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by: CASTIGLIA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 824-6435.
