Richard ABRAMSKI Obituary

ABRAMSKI - Richard "Dick"
Beloved father and grandfather, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at his home in Alden, NY. He was 88 years old. Dick was born in 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. He relocated with his mother, Priscilla, to Alden, NY, where he worked on the family farm as a child and adolescent, an experience that defined his character for the rest of his life. After graduating from Alden High School, he joined the army where he served in the infantry and as a supply sergeant during the Korean War. Shortly after returning home from war he met his wife, Florence Prusak. They were married in 1956, had four children: Mark (Linda), Tom, Mary (deceased in 2016), and Elizabeth (Tim) Tribiano, and moved back to Alden in 1969. Dick and Florence remained married for 52 years until Florence's passing in 2009. In retirement Dick worked as a volunteer at Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation and enjoyed his local senior center, making new friends and playing cards. He's described as a kind man, always wearing a smile. In addition to his three remaining children, he is survived by six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dick died in the home that he built and raised his family, standing on his own two feet. Family will be present to receive friends on Monday February 14, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the CHARLES MEYER FUNERAL HOME, 13228 Broadway, Alden, NY. Mass will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Corfu, NY Tuesday, February 15th, at 10 AM. Please assemble at church. Share your condolences at meyerfuneralhome.com

Dear Dicks family, we are so sorry and sad for your loss of Dick. He was my co-worker when he worked at Brothers and then retired. I was so happy when he came to me and wanted to become a volunteer. I was Blessed twice knowing Dick. He was a kind, thought full man, and a dedicated volunteer. We also want to the same church in Corfu. We would always have something to talk about. He was very passionate when he talked about his family. I just talked to him on the phone in January. Dick will be missed. With Deepest Sympathy, from all his friends at The Brothers of Mercy. Thinking of you,
Valerie Sonnenfeld
