Richard BANKS Obituary
Age 97 of the City of Tonawanda, May 26, 2022. Husband of 63 years to the late Grace T. (nee Janke) Banks who died in 2013; father of Mark (Robin) and David (Deborah) Banks; grandfather of Lynne (Greg), Thomas, Scott (Jennifer), Brian (Sayer) and Roger (Carla); great-grandfather of Brennen, Thomas, Ella, Elijah, Bianca and Sean; son of the late Richard and Winifred Banks and brother of the late Ronald (living spouse Mary) Banks. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Richard was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific during World War II. He was a volunteer for the Food Pantry in North Tonawanda for many years and also served on the TCCO Board. Richard enjoyed ballroom dancing, woodworking and wood carving. Richard was also employed as a Union Carpenter for more than 70 years. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 31st from 10 until 11 AM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts), in Tonawanda, where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday following the visitation. Every-one welcome to attend. A private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on facebook at newlifebaptist14304. Condolences may be shared at

Uncle Dick was my Dads older brother. All through my childhood, visits with Uncle Dick and Aunt Grace were events anticipated with great joy. Uncle Dick was the kindest man I knew, he had a quick smile and a sense of humor that made every moment with him a pleasure. I have so many memories because our families were close, from the annual picnic at Gordon´s, to the many Thanksgiving dinners our families shared, to the barbecues at the Attica cabin. Through those times Uncle Dick was a loving presence. I am going to miss him so much.
